Covid-19 is such a sensitive topic for some of us, such as myself where I almost lost my brother to Covid-19 in the beginning of the pandemic. 😢 It still remains a difficult topic for me to talk about even though a year has passed.
We have to be aware of the new covid variants such as “Omicron”, which was first detected in South Africa has now led to some travel restrictions for some countries. Check your local health news for updates.
Now my post is to help you recognize what covid would look like in babies, kids and adults. Some may not experience any symptoms at all.
Because babies under 2 years old may experience severe illness from Covid, it’s best to protect your kids from Covid-19 by:
* Avoid exposing them to people who are sick, especially people who are tested positive for Covid-19
* Stay at least 6 feet from others outside of your household
* Ensure physical distancing measures are in place at your child’s daycare
* Frequent hand washing
* Wear a mask (for those children who can tolerate wearing a mask)
* Keep hands off face
* Keep things clean
* Cough and sneeze into elbow
* Get vaccinated (approved for 5 years old and up)
⚠️ Immediately seek urgent or emergency medical care if you notice these warning signs in a child:
* Difficulty breathing or catching his or her breath
* Inability to keep down any liquids
* New confusion or inability to awaken
* Bluish lips
Knowing the signs and symptoms of Covid- 19 is important, so that you are able to seek medical care promptly.
