I have a prediction. And it’s that we are going to see an influx of people choosing to homeschool over the next couple years because of the “Great Millennial Career Crisis”

Millennials are questioning the corporate 9-5 structure more then ever before. They asking if the constant grind and never ending to-do list is really worth the burn out. Or is there a better way to live. One that looks a little slower and maybe even looks more entrepreneurial.

When you start to question 1 system, it’s just the beginning. You start to question more systems. Your nervous system takes a deep breath and you expand this critical thinking beyond what you think you know.

I think this can only mean good things for kids. As more families feel content and are able to get the time back not only for themselves but also for their kids.

Oh man, as someone who hasn’t done any co-ops yet, I can’t help but help but have FOMO this time of year. The mom circles are a buzz with what programs they are doing, and I get the hype and excitement.

It’s hard to stand 10 toes down with not doing them yet. I can’t help but feel a little left out. I know as my kids get a little older I may have to give in and join one but for right now I’m in a season of change and I’m going to love our slow schedule once the official school schedule kicks in.

How about you, have you committed to the co-op this year?

I had a few thoughts on that controversial podcast all the homeschoolers are talking about.

I didn’t really feel outraged. They are not the kind of women that I take life advice from.

But I did feel pity for them. I can imagine being so filled with anger like that. That’s what what hit me when I watched it.

This one is for the homeschool co-op and group leaders.

We all have to look at annual enrollment so let’s direct some things that may be keeping families from joining.

If you find your list of requirements is long, consider stripping something away or making changes to the program. Lets friction equals easier entry.

Homeschool families are balancing a lot. It’s usually not personal that a family decides not to join and much more about either not having their questions answered or bad timing.

So if you run a homeschool group or co-op I’d love to hear where you are struggling.

Homeschooling changes more than your child’s education.

It changes your marriage, your schedule, your home, your daily rhythm, your finances, and the way you and your spouse make decisions together.

I’m going to be breaking these down into larger conversations so follow along for the whole conversation.

Notes to My Younger Self, Part 1.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the older women who shaped me.
The mothers, grandmothers, mentors, friends, and women who carried wisdom I did not even realize I was receiving at the time.

I think we are losing some of that generational wisdom.

The kind of wisdom women used to pass down in kitchens, on porches, in phone calls, at family gatherings, and in the ordinary moments of life.

So this series is my small way of preserving some of what I have learned and offering it to another woman, another mother, or maybe a younger mom who needs to hear it today.

And this is the first note:
Do not be intimidated by someone else’s light.
Let it remind you what is possible.

Some women walk into a room and make you feel the warmth of who they are. Their confidence, kindness, creativity, courage, or peace can feel almost intimidating at first.

But maybe they are not there to make you feel small.
Maybe they are there to remind you that you have light too.

Let their light inspire you to find your own.

And then reflect it back out into the world.
