We love working on custom mother-of-the-bride gowns. From start to finish, Jen was such a pleasure to work with — with impeccable taste. We landed on something fun, elegant, chic and classic. All traits that encompass Jen herself.

We have such a special connection with our mothers of the bride. So many of the women behind AHNY are mothers themselves, and there’s an unspoken understanding between moms that makes being part of these moments feel that much more special. 🤍

Last night, we had the incredible honor of celebrating in our nation’s capital alongside the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Art in Embassies, the Organization of American States, and the Art Museum of the Americas — marking this very special moment for America’s 250th and the artists and work chosen to be part of it.To see an Abel Honor New York gown standing among works representing American art, culture and diplomacy — and to be there celebrating it with so many extraordinary people — was incredibly surreal.I’ve shared so much of the making of this piece, but last night was about stepping back and taking in what it has become and what it represents.Thank you for the overwhelming amount of love you’ve shown this dress. It means more than you know. A very special night in Washington, D.C.

A sketch becomes geometry. Geometry becomes pattern. Pattern becomes muslin. And through fitting, construction and the human hand, an idea becomes couture.

At Abel Honor, technology is another tool in the atelier — allowing us to explore proportion and architecture digitally before returning to centuries-old techniques to make it physical.

The tools evolve. The discipline does not.

Today, she’s no longer a secret. Through October 18, you can see her on display celebrating America 250 exhibition at Art Museum of Americas in Washington, D.C.

A year in the making. An honor beyond words.

Today, in celebration of opening week, we’re proud to share a project that has quietly been unfolding behind the scenes for nearly a year.

At the invitation of Erin Elmore (now Scavino) and the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies program, Abel Honor was asked to create a couture gown for the America 250 celebration.

The result is the 250 Betsy Ross Gown, now on display as part of Passport to Patriotism: 250 Years of Diplomacy Through Art at America’s Museum in Washington, D.C. From July 30 throufh October.

We’re incredibly honored that this piece serves as the exhibition’s only representation of American fashion design.

Inspired by Betsy Ross, the gown celebrates the enduring legacy of American craftsmanship—where artistry, hand sewing, draping, and couture techniques continue to connect generations of makers more than 250 years later.

From the first sketch to the final stitch, this project was shaped through months of collaboration with the Art in Embassies team, curators, and our New York atelier. Sleepless nights in the studio!

To see American couture recognized alongside works celebrating our nation’s history, diplomacy, and culture is a milestone we’ll never forget.
