But the straps are meant to stabilize — not lift.⁠

When the band isn’t doing its job, we instinctly tighten the straps. That often increases shoulder pressure without improving support. A properly fitted band distributes weight evenly and changes how the bra feels by the end of the day.⁠

Sister sizing is a bra sizing concept where different size combinations have the same cup volume but different band sizes.✨
In other words:
If you go up in the band, you go down in the cup to keep the same cup volume.
If you go down in the band, you go up in the cup to keep the same cup volume.

🔁 How It Works
Let’s use 34C as an example:
If the band feels too tight → go up to 36B
If the band feels too loose → go down to 32D
All three (34C, 36B, 32D) have roughly the same cup volume, but the band fits differently.

📏 Why Sister Sizing Matters
Sister sizing is helpful when:

A band feels too tight or too loose
A specific size is out of stock
Different brands fit slightly differently
You want a firmer or more relaxed band fit
⚠️ Important to Remember
Cup letters are not fixed sizes — a C cup on a 32 band is smaller than a C cup on a 36 band.
Sister sizing keeps cup volume similar, but the overall fit can still feel different because the band changes the support.

As a professional bra fitter, I always tell clients that true support feels even and effortless—the weight is distributed through the band, the cups hold without digging, and nothing is pulling or pinching.Your straps shouldn’t leave scars, deep indents, or bruising—they’re not meant to carry the weight. The band should be firm and secure, sitting level and supportive without limiting your breathing. When a bra fits properly, it supports you evenly and comfortably, all day long.
