Our clothing line is full of character, inspiration, and gumption so you’ll not only walk the streets in style but support a black movement! It is my honor to use this platform as a medium to express myself and creativity as I invite you on this ride of mine called Life. My journey started back in Jamaica in the year 1971 as the son of two wonderful parents who had worked very hard to provide for
their family. We migrated to the United States of America in 1981, like everyone else, we were seeking a better life filled with opportunities. I remembered quite vividly what I would describe as a culture shock that occurred for me and my family as we left our home country to this new environment where we had to readjust to living in and adapt to. As a young man, it was the most difficult time of my life due to differences in culture, climate, and just people in general, especially at school. However, that did not deter me from pushing forward as I was and still am a very determined individual which was my main motivation in making it through those hard times. It has never been for me where I’ve been but rather where I am going in life. I was always drawn very close to people from my homeland. My desire to hear their numerous stories is rather good or bad but it stuck with me throughout my life. As I got older, those stories have become more meaningful to me and something deep inside was changing. Not completely aware of what was happening but realized my passion was growing stronger and stronger in understanding who we are. As my understanding grew stronger, I felt a deep sense of knowing that it is important for us as African Americans to know our value, our worth, and most importantly, to love one another. We as Kings and Queens are not doing what is needed to show love. This was very heavy in my heart and also very painful as we need peace, Happiness, Trust, and Loyalty among us. I do see and feel a shift with us that’s going in the positive direction and want to add to that positive shift. The contribution I want to make is for us to be closer to each other. I started a clothing line in [year] where I printed words of affirmation for my people in order to bring awareness to our culture and how beautiful it is to be a part of the world. The clothing line meant more to me than just clothes, it was more so a movement to form unity amongst black people by reminding them that they are one. The main goal of this movement is for us to have positive attitudes toward our culture and become pioneers who will set the standards and raise the bar high for our future generations to come so they will know our culture is strong, diverse, unique and amazing.
