I give you, the Mamiya 6. My favorite camera I ever shot and owned and an iconic camera in the history of photography.

It’s the Zen of Photography camera.
What do I mean by that? It’s a medium format rangefinder, so you are slowed down in focusing (until you master it young grasshopper) and in frames you can shoot (as you get either 12 or 24).

It’s like a 35mm on steroids as you bring it to the eye, composing horizontal. The glass, world class. The lens is a wide angle, a 50mm f/4. Tact sharp. Has a simple meter thru the lens.

This is a camera if you are practitioner of studied scenes, street photography, vignettes of life. With a flash on the hotshoe or off-camera, you can go fun frontal flash i..e. Martin Parr or Gilden. It also has the unique 2,4 and 8 second settings on the shutter speed dial for when ya don’t want to schlep a tripod but want to do a few long exposures.

Mid-Summer check in.

Someone mentioned awhile back that the things people buy really seemed to match their personalities perfectly. Well, in this batch of purchases it looks to be the same. I guess it makes sense as “people are people so how can they buy haphazardly”? (sorry for that dad joke).

This first image is of a Polo Dress from an upcycling designer from Bangkok. Have lots more on the rack. Upcycled dresses made from vintage linens and tea towels. All one-of-a-kind and super cute, soft. .

NOW THIS is a perfect match! This collectable 1970’s sci-fi rendering sat on the wall for a year before her match scored her.

Lots of bolo ties selling. This one to a professional female rugby team player.

My Bleu de Travail stock has been getting widdled down. Time to re-order from France.

LOVED this Pride proud person whose just went to see the Beyonce shoes and scored some tasty gay s**t.

A fun repeat customer from NJ scored a sequined jersey from the line of clothes from the art director of Paper magazine.

This fabulous soul sauntered in and scored one of the Grand Leaners t’s. Our merch has our brand pressed onto vintage clothes.

Some of the Thai upcycled clothes came in with some huge shirts so some women have bought to wear as dresses.

In Cambodia I scored about 10 crochet pieces. This was one of the best, green and asymetrical.

Spring has sprung babycakes and fun treasure being dispersed to the ones who found their spirit seconds.

-A 1970’s kitsch bowl with glitter and butterfly’s finally found its soulmate. They also picked up a hilarious pair of green protection googles.

- I recently got to go to the Canaries and my airb&b host gifted me a bunch of French and Italian couture fabric swatches. This performer looked amazing when she found an iridescent one replete with butterfly’s as a scarf. She channeled her ancestral Roma.

-In February I scoured Vietnam for vintage and it was tough. But scored some worker wear all with lots of text. This couple picked a few nice ones.

- , who works in the shop and sells her treasures scored like 500 pieces of 1960’s stuff from an old costumer in SOHO.

-i thrifted for a full day in Tenerife and found lots of sick Spanish and European vintage. This jacket, a Spanish wool jacket, lasted one day.

-This 1970’s kids onesie finally found its partner in adventure.

-In Cambodia I didn’t find any vintage but did score some fun stuff, like this butterfly beach/house dress.

-This 1970’s motorcycle helmet from Western Michigan is actually gonna hit the streets of NYC as a bike helmet.

-Last year while choosing vintage from my French picker in a rag house he showed me a pic of this full body motorcycle racing outfit. I had to have it. One rainy night a fabulous gent spotted it before leaving and freaked out, saying he had been looking for one for a year. This piece was $3500 new. He scored it for a song. Wore it out and all night. Soooo great.

-This awesome 1980’s panorama point and shoot still in the box found its artistic mate.

Alright. Let’s keep saving good things from the waste stream, support makers and instead of buying off the rack s**te, channeling our inner spirit animals and have some fu***ng fun.
