The most dangerous car of all time?

Is this BMW’s most underrated car?

The Z3 M Roadster is proof that open top performance can still be affordable, even with an engine straight from the M3. The base Z3 was unveiled in 1995, driven by James Bond in his film GoldenEye, and the arrival of the M model a few years later changed everything: what was first introduced as a paltry four cylinder suddenly got power from an M3 engine, and that paired with a five speed manual and convertible soft top made it the ultimate driving machine.

Every Z3 was made in America, but there was one problem: because of emissions regulations, one of the greatest engines to grace it could not be sold new here. That’s why this one is right hand drive – it was imported from England with the 321 horsepower S50B32 under the hood. US cars had only 240 horsepower.

It may not be the fastest thing in the world, but it’s definitely one of the coolest, and you can get one right now for around $20k.

When Porsche withdrew from Formula 1, they had a problem.

The sport was too expensive and it wasn’t driving sales, so they instead set their sights on the GT class, which came with a challenge: design, develop, and produce a prototype that was FIA-approved in just six months. Of course, they made it happen, and the result was the genesis of their sports car success.

This is a 1964 Porsche 904, officially known as the Carrera GTS, because Peugeot gave them trouble for their numerical naming system. It’s a race car that you can drive home from the track, since Group 3 GT cars were all road legal, and it was originally powered by a two liter flat four making one hundred eighty horsepower, but this one’s been retrofitted with a flat six.

The 904 was markedly less powerful than its rivals, like the Ferrari 250 GTO and V8 Shelby Cobra, but it was lighter and far more balanced, making it quicker around corners. It changed the game for Porsche as a competitor, claiming class victories at Le Mans, Sebring, Nurburgring, and Spa along with an overall victory at the Targa Florio, and it exists as the architectural ancestor of the legendary 917.

The early sixties asking price of one of these was $7,245, which shapes up to be about 78 grand in today’s money. All thing’s considered, that’s a bargain.

This 904 (chassis 904-083) is currently available with Animoya Garage

Is this the future of Acura?

This year at The Quail, the NEXERA Vision concept had its world premiere, and it gives us a look into the future of the brand’s design language.

Dual-hinge butterfly doors that open automatically. 22-inch center lock wheels over carbon ceramic brakes. Phantom light fixtures hidden beneath the bodywork. Active aero elements to manage the airflow. Forged carbon accents.

The cabin is completely driver-focused, with front seats that are fixed to the floor in an ultra-low position, paired with pedals and a steering wheel that adjust to meet the driver.

It’s covered in new signatures that we can expect to see soon, starting with the upcoming RDX Hybrid.

How do you feel about Acura’s next generation?

I think I’ve officially found the worst first car.

And it’s not because it gets less than 20 miles a gallon, it’s because if you’re not confident, it will kill you. This is a 1996 Dodge Viper GTS, and it’s well known to be America’s widow maker.

17% of second gen Vipers were crashed on their way home from the dealership, and thus began a lifetime of terror: these cars are notoriously difficult to tame, and there are a few key things that keep them dangerous.

Under the hood is an 8.0 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that delivers 500 pound feet of torque, and with all its power sent to the rear, they are very easy to oversteer. In the moments before you hit a wall, you may look for some safety features, but don’t expect to find many: the second gen Viper has no ABS, no traction control, no stability control, and just two airbags. It also runs massive 335 millimeter tires in the rear, and if you let them get old, you’re asking for trouble.

But if you’re a seasoned driver, you may tell a different story. The Dodge Viper is unapologetically raw, and it offers a driving experience like no other, mating a six speed manual with four hundred fifty horsepower. It may have a reputation, but as long as you know your limits, I’m pretty sure you’ll live.

Have you ever heard of these?

I’m in Korea for the very first time and this country is FULL of cars I’ve never seen before. Most of them are manufactured domestically, but it goes far beyond just Kia and Hyundai — what about SsangYong and Samsung Motors?

These are some of the strangest cars I saw while traveling between Seoul and Suncheon 🇰🇷
