Maison Margiela Fur Trimmed Denim Jacket

Martin Margiela is a mystery to the public eye. He lets his designs speak for themselves as he hides behind a veil of anonymity. This personal tactic projects a stronger message at his runway shows and presentations. In his past collections, Martin has covered the faces of models with crystal masks and wigs affixed backwards. The color white is heavily used in his ateliers and beyond in an effort to show an identity being hidden. All elements exists in incognito. Hiding identity is consistently utilized by the Maison, along with recycling, transforming, and reinterpreting the practical uses for common items and garments. Presenting garments in an unconventional way, seems to be the tried and true Margiela philosophy.
This light wash jacket is made of a soft denim material and features a removable lambs fur collar that is fastened by a series of buttons. The condition is brand new with tags included.

Whether he is utilizing bright prints or unconventional shapes, he aims to attract and seduce the viewer with the manipulation of fabric. These references are paired with his motive to close the gap between menswear and womenswear collections and present androgyny in a contemporary way.

Number Nine AW2004 “Hearts” Patchwork Birkenstock Sandals

Founder Takahiro Mayash*ta is a new-age lover of clothing, music and Americana rebellion. Having started several bands himself (The Ivory and The High Streets), he is a true believer that music can reshape culture and that it impacts a lot of what we do. The name of his menswear line, Number (N)ine comes from the song “Revolution 9” by the Beatles with the only recoverable lyrics in the track being “Number nine, Number nine.”
These Zurich Birkenstock sandals feature velvet hearts patchwork as seen in the Number Nine AW2004 collection. They are in worn condition but have received a deep cleaning treatment.

Yohji Yamamoto Distressed Mohair Reversible Sweater

A natural-born feminist, Yohji Yamamoto, was raised exclusively by his widowed mother, Yumi. Yohji had never met his father, having passed away in combat in World War II. Growing up as the son of a dressmaker, Yamamoto noticed subtle injustices in the industry and various disadvantages that gender played on the success of his mother’s craft. After attending law school at his mother’s request, he realized that his passion was deeply embedded in design. He attended the Bunka Fashion College from 1966 -1970 and began his entry-level line of basics, entitled “Y’s,” in 1972. Later in his career he teamed up with Rei Kawakubo in a collaborative effort of deconstructed deigns. He presented his first womenswear collection with her in 1981 in the fashion capital of Paris, France. From the very beginning, Yohji wanted to make mens clothes for women. In an interview in 2011, Yamamoto stated, “I jumped on the idea of of designing coats for women. It meant something to me - the idea of a coat guarding or hiding a woman’s body. I wanted to protect the woman’s body from something - maybe from men’s eyes or a cold wind.”
This mohair knit sweater is composed of two layers. The black layer is a smooth mohair blend with several intentional holes that show the underlying red fabric. The opposing side of the sweater is a knitted red layer with black accents at the collar and the body and sleeve openings. A small knit pocket is located at the base of the reverse (black) side of the garment.
