Mina Norton Making my own fabrics is at the essence of my textile work. Making my own fabrics is the essence of my textile work.

It frees me to experiment with a palette of colors creating abstract geometric patterns using unique shapes contrasts and accenting with bright color details. In my wool jackets, my process begins with knitting and dyeing fabrics. The key to the work resides in the felting; the different cuts of fabric are re-felted together, creating a gradation of grays, black and silver, blues and greens. A tou

ch of color is playfully added and the whole design comes together as an assemblage of forms. Recently I added a new line of clothing using stretched rayon fabrics. Using the same design sensibility I created different drawings and geometric details and digitally printed them on silk. The silk pieces get adhered via heat transfer techniques onto the background material and create unique patterns and accents on the garment.
