Arpita Mehta just made a strong case for what modern Indian couture can look like & quite frankly SHOULD LOOK LIKE

For her debut couture show at India Couture Week, the collection “CEREMONIAL” revisited

- Bandhani (a traditional tie-dye technique known for its tiny dotted patterns)

- Banarasi (rich silk brocades woven in Varanasi)

- Tissue (a lightweight fabric with a subtle metallic sheen),

& Kantha (a hand-stitched embroidery tradition from Bengal)

through the lens of a woman who wants her heritage, BUT also wants to have fun with it! Sculpted lehengas, fluid saris, corseted blouses and contemporary drapes kept the collection feeling distinctly Arpita Mehta while still giving these traditional textiles room to shine.

This is the kind of couture I love seeing. Deeply rooted in Indian craft, but not stuck in the past

For its latest couture collection, Jonathan Anderson looked to 18th-century Indian chintz, incorporating the historic textile into accessories while drawing inspiration from Gujarat’s rich floral traditions.

The journey began through Anderson’s exploration of artist Lynda Benglis’ connection and relationship to Ahmedabad, which opened a window into India’s deep legacy of textile craftsmanship.

Before becoming a global symbol of luxury interiors and fashion, chintz was an Indian innovation that captivated the world with its vibrant floral patterns and intricate craftsmanship.

MY KING IS COMING BACK TO NYC!!!!

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is officially slated to return to New York Fashion Week this September on Tuesday September 15th, appearing on the just released preliminary CFDA calendar!

The last runway spectacle from the brand was the landmark 25th anniversary show in Mumbai in January 2025. In New York, however, it’s been well over a decade since he last presented a collection on the runway. Spring 2009, following his NYFW debut in Spring 2007.

The return feels significant. New York has long been one of Sabyasachi’s most important international markets, anchored by his West Village store on Christopher Street and through past partnerships with retailers Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.

As Indian fashion continues to command greater visibility on the global stage, Sabyasachi’s return to NYFW carries weight beyond a single show.

Can’t wait to see what the curtain unveils!!!!
