Almost every week I try to spend a couple of days on the road visiting our factories and suppliers. It’s a large part of the reason we now spend most of the year in Portugal, where our production is based. Sometimes we’re developing something new. Sometimes it’s simply checking in on production.

I’ve always been as interested in how something is made as the finished product itself. The best conversations usually happen on the factory floor, where someone who’s sewn their millionth pocket shares the one thing that helps solve a problem you’ve been stuck on or perfect a detail most people will never notice.

Spending time with the people making our clothes is a constant reminder of how much knowledge lives in the process itself. It’s hard to replace those conversations and over the years they’ve shaped almost every product we’ve made.

Forever in development. Still learning. Working to make the best product we can.

For our latest In Focus, we catch up with Louis Meeus of .dam.

We spoke about working across disciplines, the importance of shared curiosity, becoming your own client and making more room for projects outside of the studio. Read the full feature on our News page.

When we set out to do tailoring, we knew we didn’t want to take the silhouettes too seriously. Lightly structured, relaxed fitting and easy to wear.

We wanted the fabrics to follow the same thinking. Something special, but not precious. Something that could be dressed up, dressed down and be an easy friend to the rest of your wardrobe.

For the Miles Suit, we worked with one of our Italian mills to develop a cotton and linen fabric using delavé yarns. The result is a cloth with natural variation and character that feels just as good worn with a shirt and tie as it does a tee.

Some fabrics tell you exactly what they want to be.

When we came across this cotton and silk blend fabric, we knew it was meant for a summer shirt. Lightweight, breathable and easy to wear. It sits somewhere between casual and formal, which is probably why we’ve reached for it so often.

Used in one of our most popular shirting silhouettes, the Jones Shirt, it is available in a classic blue as well as a sun faded blue stripe.

A few seasons ago we introduced the Scout Short. Since then, it has quietly become one of those pieces we return to season after season. The Scout Jacket took a little longer.

Developed alongside the short, we spent time getting it right before finally bringing it into the collection. Both are made from a lightweight water-repellent cloth by Italy’s Olmetex mill and feature custom hardware throughout, including Aquaguard Vislon zippers, rubberized cord locks and spring snaps.

Designed for the rain and shine of spring and summer weather.
