OLONA

Named after the Malagasy word for “human being,” Olona reflects an enduring fascination with the human face as a vessel of identity, memory, and presence.

Inspired by the sculptural forms of Sukuma masks and translated into hand-woven raffia, the Olona explores the ways we recognize ourselves and one another across generations, cultures, and time.

For this latest iteration, the form has evolved to introduce a stronger architectural presence, balancing structure with movement through its expressive silhouette and cascading fringe.

Hand embroidered with imagery drawn from my original artworks.

MA’AT

Drawing from the archetypes and symbolism of Egyptian mythology, the Ma’at Bag is named for the ancient goddess of truth, balance, harmony, and cosmic order, exploring the meeting point of symbolism and form.

Its architectural silhouette creates a structure that is grounded and sculptural. Hand-embroidered with imagery drawn from my original artworks, each detail reflects the delicate balance between strength and softness, order and movement.

A wearable object inspired by the enduring power of balance.

TANTARA

Tantara, the Malagasy word for “story,” is a tribute to the narratives that shape our lives and the memories we carry forward. Drawing from traditions of adornment, ceremony, and identity, its sculptural form becomes a vessel for inherited histories, connecting past and present.

The embroidered faces are inspired by the ceremonial presence of masks from the Sukuma tribe of Tanzania, reimagined through contemporary form. They hold traces of memory, wisdom, and cultural knowledge, reminding us that stories live on through the generations that tell them.

Endrika is the first bag I designed last year for Faces of the Earth. Now, it comes in a new look!

Endrika, meaning “form” or “identity” in Malagasy, reflects the ways we come to know ourselves and one another through shape, presence and expression. It speaks to the visible and invisible elements that define who we are, carrying traces or memory, culture, ancestry and experience.

The goddesses have emerged to greet you.

Inspired by ancient archetypes of protection, wisdom, beauty, and power, Bastet, Athena, Aphrodite, Ma’at, Isis and Sekhmet join the growing family of Faces of the Earth.

Their stories take shape through hand-woven architectural forms, which are hand-embroidered with imagery drawn from my original artworks.
