I didn’t just design this. I listened.

It’s my mom’s heavenly birthday today! She would have been 80 today. To celebrate her life, I created a capsule titled Ukoo! Ukoo is a Swahili word that means lineage, ancestry and family line. Inspired by matrilineal traditions across Africa, it’s a reflection on women as keepers of memory, continuity, and cultural presence. Printed with portraits of women from my “Motherline” series of artworks, each garment speaks to bodily autonomy, sisterhood and the stories carried through generations.
