Gabriela Hearst SS25 Lace Edit 🌿

From Renaissance bobbin-work to 21st-century sustainability, lace has always been about storytelling—and no one tells it better than Gabriela Hearst. In our latest blog, we trace lace’s journey from filigree collars of the 16th century, through Victorian guipure classics, to the 1990s slip-dress revival—and right into Hearst’s SS25 edits.

Her cashmere-lace Heath shirts and Florence skirts nod to Slavic hand-craft traditions, while obsidian cuffs and Circe leather slides ground them in downtown cool. It’s a rebellion against fast fashion—choosing care, history and emotion over speed.

Resort ’26 Lace Revival 🌿

Lace in Resort ’26 isn’t just a throwback—it’s a soft resistance. As we highlight in our blog, searches for ‘lace’ are up 42% on Depop and crochet has hit a five-year high on Google. From artisanal ateliers to heritage houses, designers are reworking bobbin lace, laser-cut guipure, and bias-cut slip silhouettes for a sun-ready heirloom moment.

Polish pioneers like Magda Butrym and Zofia Chylak infuse Slavic nostalgia, while brands from Chloé to Saint Laurent embrace floral appliqués and sustainable fibers. It’s the ultimate union of bridal romance and street-smart edge.

Metallic Wrinkle Evolution: From Crushed Silk to Silver Foil

Reflecting on last week’s deep-dive into wrinkled textures, we now trace the story through Resort ’26. Hearst’s Fides Midi in crushed gold-metallic silk introduces the sculptural “organic wrinkle.” Ulla Johnson intensified it for FW25 with a warm, foil-crinkle lamé and voluminous sleeves. At Resort ’26, Chanel reinterprets the motif in a translucent rose shimmer, and Gucci perfects it in a razor-sharp silver foil crinkle. This sequence—from textured metallic silk to high-shine foil—demonstrates why wrinkled surfaces have become the defining metallic statement of the season.

Crinkled Narrative
Wrinkled and crinkled textures have emerged as defining trends, reshaping contemporary fashion with sophisticated yet organic appeal. 🌿✨ Currently trending strongly, these textures are set to continue into Fall/Winter 2025—evoking the delicate crinkles of tree bark, subtle ripples on water, and gentle folds of sunlit surfaces.

Gabriela Hearst’s SS25 collection epitomizes this movement, blending artisanal imperfection with refined minimalism. Luxurious fabrications like metallic silk, softly looped bouclé knits, and delicately pleated plissé georgette each echo nature’s own elegant textures.

From Craft to Motion: SS25’s Textural Shift✨

Once tied to nostalgia or vacation wear, crochet and raffia have become central to the commercial and creative direction of Spring/Summer 2025. What began as artisan craft is now in motion — scaled, refined, and pushed forward by designers and retailers alike.

From directional fringe to handwoven footwear and sculptural bags, these materials are no longer embellishments — they’re building blocks for modern wardrobes.

Raffia offers structure without weight. Crochet carries history, but arrives recontextualized in bold silhouettes, directional layering, and rich tactility. Together, they signal a shift: from throwaway textures to textiles of intention.

Rooted in handwork but scaled for contemporary use, this material story speaks to the evolving role of craft in design — tactile, purposeful, and ready for movement.

Modern Refinement

Sustainability meets sculptural softness in this curated style story rooted in tailoring, texture, and intention.

Each look is a dialogue between heritage and modernity — from sharply structured blazers to pleated cotton skirts, fringe crochet, and fluid shirting. The SS25 mood embraces:

• Workwear revival – precision-cut tailoring softened with natural fibers
• The shirt dress trend – cotton classics redefined in volume and proportion
• A texture-forward focus – featuring crochet, silk gauze, cashmere, and twill
• Artisanal craft – silhouettes shaped by slow fashion values and heritage materials

This series is not about seasonal trends — it’s a return to clothing with a deeper purpose. From regenerative wool to plastic-free milestones, Gabriela Hearst’s design ethos proves that conscious fashion can be both elegant and enduring.

Swipe through to explore the full visual narrative:

1. Modern Refinement – Tailored elegance in black and powder pink. Structured blazer, soft pink shirting, and ripple denim set the tone for elevated everyday style.
2. Fringe Future – Ivory crochet separates with artisanal texture, grounded by bold boots and graphic accessories.
3. Tailored by Nature – Cream suiting layered with light shirting and snakeskin texture for modern soft power.
4. Soft Contrast – A fluid neutral palette in camel and ivory — crafted warmth meets structured ease.
5. Soft Structure – Architectural black-and-ivory elegance, softly framed by modern flats and polished accessories.
6. Modern Prairie – A refined prairie moment in aloe linen with Western leather grounding and sculpted simplicity.

Powder Discipline: Rewriting the Rules of Workwear ✨

There’s history in this pink shirt.
Borrowed from British tailoring.
Refined by 90s minimalism.
Reimagined for now — layered, softened, and structured.

Powder pink isn’t just a spring color —
it’s a palette of restraint, of precision, of rebalance.

This isn’t nostalgia. It’s evolution.
From the runway to the street,
workwear becomes womanswear,
and softness becomes power.

🖤The 90s button-up has reentered the market — not as a throwback, but as a staple redefined.
Seen on runways from Dries Van Noten to Toteme, and forecasted in SS25 and Fall 2025 pre-collections, this piece is gaining momentum with commercial velocity.

Oversized. Intentional. And only beginning.

📝 Coming soon on pilarmacchioneofficial.com + Substack: a full trend forecast on powder pink as a resetting neutral, the commercial return of the 90s shirt, and the new direction of contemporary workwear.

✨ The Shift — A transformation from freight to form, material to meaning.
This is a story of origin, movement, and return. 🌍

From the loaded decks of cargo ships ⛴
to the rhythm of a jump rope —
a shift unfolds. ➹

Where garments carry weight beyond fabric,
and form remembers motion. 🕊

This is resilience in soft silhouettes. 🪶
Stillness as resistance. 🛑

Still, this moment holds pain.
We are living through heavy times — where the weight of the world feels closer than ever.
And yet, in the midst of it all, there is a quiet return to meaning.
Not to escape, but to reflect.
A gesture of grounding.
A soft act of resilience.

📅 Released on Liberation Day, proclaimed by the administration as a turning point in U.S. trade policy, this concept reflects on global tariffs and the invisible weight of supply chains. ⚖️

As trade regulations evolve, designers and consumers alike are asked to reimagine what value looks like — not just in material goods, but in meaning. ☁️

“The Shift” is a meditation on what it means to move, to make, and to return. ♻️
From global freight to grounded form —
this is the creative liberation.

🌿 Natura Sussurra: A Dialogue Between Architecture and Nature 🌿
Inspired by architect Antonio Girardi’s home—where the memory of ancient stories clings to every surface—this moodboard captures the interplay of nature’s elegance and whimsical structure.

Each element was chosen to echo Girardi’s philosophy: that architecture is not about erasure, but preservation—an embrace of memory through form, texture, and atmosphere.

Leopard silk, serpentine curves, garden statuary, and crumbling stone columns are woven with cypress reflections and painterly fruit, creating a narrative that feels both eternal and freshly bloomed —a subtle nod to Baroque romanticism, where emotion, nature, and ornamentation entwine.

The result is a visual poem where design and nature do not compete, but collaborate—telling a story of sensory wonder, nostalgia, and tactile beauty.

🖋 Full blog coming soon — where I’ll dive deeper into the story behind this piece and its connection to timeless, natural design.

🌿 The Evolution of Seasonal Color Palettes: Why Fall Tones Are Dominating Spring Collections

The lines between seasonal dressing have blurred. Earthy tones—like rust, burnt orange, deep browns, and ochre—are no longer just for fall. Instead, they’ve become central to spring collections from Bottega Veneta, The Row, and Loewe. But why is this shift happening? It’s more than an aesthetic choice—it reflects a deeper transformation in luxury fashion and consumer behavior.

✨ 1. Seasonless Dressing – The rigid seasonal palette is fading. Consumers now prioritize versatility, leading brands to design trans-seasonal collections that can be worn year-round.

💰 2. The Luxury Slowdown & Intentional Consumerism – Economic shifts and sustainability awareness are reshaping purchasing habits. Instead of chasing fleeting trends, consumers are investing in timeless, well-crafted pieces that offer longevity.

🌱 3. Sustainability & Longevity – The fashion industry is moving away from seasonal waste and embracing natural, earthy hues (think terracotta, clay, and sand) that align with sustainable, mindful design.

🌎 4. Transitional Wardrobes – With changing global climates, designers are blending rich, warm hues with breathable, lightweight fabrics, making pieces adaptable across seasons.

🖤 5. A New Definition of Luxury – True luxury is no longer about excess; it’s about grounded elegance. Consumers are embracing nature-inspired tones that exude confidence and refinement.

📝 Final Thought:
This shift toward seasonless, nature-rooted hues signals a larger cultural change in fashion—one where purpose, longevity, and sustainability take center stage.

✨ Are you embracing these rich, muted hues beyond fall? Let’s discuss below! 👇

Nature’s Charm: A Cottagecore Curation

🌿 A Story of Romance, Sustainability & Slow Living ✨

Cottagecore is more than an aesthetic—it’s a return to slower, more intentional living, rooted in heritage, sustainability, and nostalgia. From the romanticism of 19th-century pastoral poetry to the craftsmanship of vintage heirlooms, this aesthetic embodies the art of cherishing simplicity. 🌾

This season, the trend evolves beyond nostalgia while staying true to its ethereal charm:

🌿 Timeless Craftsmanship – Flowing silhouettes, embroidery, crochet, and heirloom lace honor the artisanal traditions of the past.
🌸 Sustainability Meets Romance – Natural fibers, vintage textiles, and slow fashion reflect the values of handcrafted beauty.
📖 The Past & Present Intertwined – Ruffles, lace, and botanical prints blend history with contemporary refinement.

In 2025, Cottagecore remains a sanctuary from the fast-paced world—a reminder to embrace heritage, sustainability, and the magic of slow living. 🍃✨
