This is an amazing story that touches on overcoming the odds. Although the focus of this story is not about Abezash Tamerat's rough childhood, it is the heart of the story. Reading this, we were moved just how far she's come after foster care and becoming estranged from her sister. It's no secret that Burnt Sun LOVES and celebrates the Amharic/Tigrinya alphabet. And so apparently does the artist behind the painting pictured above, which we have seen in many homes of friends as of late. We got very curious about its origins and discovered that it's one of the many works by the renowned artist Wosene Worke Kosrof. The US based artist is apparently the "first Ethiopian-born painter to transform Amharic script into contemporary abstract art." Now that's very cool! Long live the fiedel!
