The Kayan Long Neck Hill Tribe lives on the hills of northern Thailand, Chiang Mai city. Two decades ago, an intensified civil war between Karenni separatists the Burmese army caused Kayar residents to flee Myanmar. Thailand granted refugee status to them and now 500 or so Kayans live in guarded villages on the northern Thai border. Our upcoming collection ‘Nativa’ is inspired by all the women we have encountered in our visit to Southeast Asia and their rich ancestral indigenous culture.

We're all set for our new adventure to Asia! We are super excited for this new exploratory trip and what may unfold. it also made me reflect on the following: while our visit as tourists may provide some economic benefits to local people, it can also use up scarce resources. For example, water is in short supply in many tourist destinations. Hotels put a huge strain on an already limited resource. One tourist can use as much water in one day as a village would use to produce rice for 100 days. Even the most ‘eco’ friendly hotel may be using local people’s water supplies. Please be aware and do your bit by using as little as possible. Quick showers!
