Dearest Friends,
After much thought and discussion, we have made a hard decision and will be closing our NYC JBF event.
We spent the summer exploring options with local organizations to see if there was a way to keep the event going.
This really is a wonderful concept and to those of you who have come, we applaud you. We really do. Every season families show so much interest, but unfortunately, something about the NYC area makes it difficult for them to make it through the door.
For four years I have woken every morning with JBF on my mind...thinking about you all and how to get the event to serve more here in NYC. Hundreds of hours of brainstorming with Mauricio and others... (But Mauricio especially ;)
However, consignment offers a very small budget for businesses to work off of and though we have hundreds participating through shopping/consigning, it really takes thousands for it to sustain. Especially since we wanted to stay in the true spirit of JBF and allow all brands (not only high end).
We had been hopeful but the past few sales really have brought us to a point that we cannot continue. This was especially hard for us as we have gotten to know so many of you and feel, in many ways, that you are our extended family, here in NYC. You made our last event this spring really wonderful.
As for us, we are still here in NYC. Mauricio is still at Columbia doing research and I will be seeing what the months ahead have in store. We still have a heart and feel deeply for the struggle NYC families have here. We hope to be able to continue to serve somehow.
In the meantime, there are a couple of JBF's not too far by car. Great opportunities and really much much larger/more selection than you are used to with us, but same great quality - definitely worth the drive. I will be posting about those today. We are always able to stock up for our son for the season (and Christmas :) at these.
If you have questions or just want to connect, feel free to reach out!
Hoping you all are having a wonderful start to the fall (finally some fall weather!)
Sending you all big hug.
xoxo,
Shannon
