Rae Rae is all about lively prints in luxurious fabrications that paint a story of easy-to-wear, feminine clothes.

Launched in Spring 2009 by designer Denise Gertmenian, with her own penmanship in the “Rae” tag, Rae made its mark with the “Bird of Paradise” print worn by Fergie. Gayle King, editor of O Magazine, also wore Rae when she interviewed Michelle Obama at the Democratic National Convention. Denise, who studied Anthropology and American Ethnic Studies at Wake Forest University, spent a great deal of he

r childhood in her backyard under a big beautiful pine tree playing dress-up while exploring the outdoors. This included cracking open rocks with hammers in search of gold and crystals, chasing colorful birds, and climbing onto the roof- all wearing a costume gown, sequin hat, cape, high heels, or whatever was available to mix and match. The spirit of exploring and being inspired by nature's textures, shapes, and colors, combined with her love of being a girl is at the heart of Rae. The focus is always on the quality, craftsmanship, and details of every garment, and each print is born through an inspiration and a hand drawn sketch. This attention to detail translates through the clothes that are often mixed, matched, and versatile enough to wear in different ways. Rae is designed and manufactured in the New York Garment District. The brand embraces Denise’s Pasadena, California roots with it’s charming aesthetic, and builds upon the last 7 years she has spent in New York by offering sophisticated and modern designs. The designer continues to be inspired by everything in life that sparks her voracious curiosity and finds her job most rewarding when friends and customers tell her that they feel better about themselves, more confident, and more alive, when they wear Rae.
