Story behind my Key Piece:

This denim bag is handcrafted by artisans in Indonesia. I’ve always had a passion for denim and indigo and worked as a denim designer for many years. Even after exploring and broadening my career opportunities, denim has always played a part in some shape or form.
When starting MUUR I found 2 incredible workshops in Indonesia, one where artisans make garments and accessories using natural indigo and apply the batik and block printing techniques to create the patterns and another one that uses leather to create beautiful accessories.

A few years ago, I was very fortunate to collaborate with NDL Naveena Denim for a denim workshop at the Kingpins Show in New York. It was a success, so we continued with it for a few seasons including at Kingpins Amsterdam. We then collaborated on this denim bag which is made of a fabric containing the Dyneema fiber which is very strong. The artisans were able to combine the denim and their leather and handcrafted this bag. I’ve used this bag for some years now on my travels and it looks even better now. It reminds me of both the artisans who have such passion for their craft as well as the NDL Naveena team who I now consider friends.
