A PLUMCUTE CHRISTMAS

BLACK SHEEP COTTON

Black may not be the color you may first think of when piecing a quilt.  As Pam Buda explains, “Some might even consider it the “black sheep” color of the quilting world. But, truth be told, black can do amazing things when paired with other colors.  Interior designers say that every room should have a little black in it, and I think the same is true about quilts.  Why not make a quilt entirely of black prints?  A black border or black blocks can make the quilt pop just as it does in a room setting.”  So, add a little depth and drama to your color palette!

ANNA B’S INDIGOS

Carrie Quinn’s newest collection is “named for my sister, Anne, who was named after their great grandmother, Anna Bennett, Anna is a common name on the Swedish side of my family.  Anna was born in Sweden in 1865, and came to America in 1880.  During the early part of Anna’s life, the leaves of the indigo plant were used to dye fabric a beautiful colorfast blue, often associated with denim blues. Beautiful indigo prints were often created using a resist method.  Carrie’s line features several reproductions of these types of fabrics, and includes two prints from the Smithsonian collection.
