Last week, we dropped TWO Juneteenth prints/posters to accompany our annual t-shirt and we wanted to shine a light on the digital collages we built in-house using Juneteenth, Galveston and Black liberation ephemera + objects in our collection.

We are always inspired by the layering and quilting of collage traditions and leaned in to share our Juneteenth archive. Both prints now available at www.blkmktvintage.com.

“WE FREED OURSELVES” Juneteenth 001 is now LIVE on our website for pre-orders. One tee and two prints.

It all started with one photo in our private collection and developed from there. We are always inspired by the layering and quilting of collage traditions and this Juneteenth, we’re centering vintage found photos, a poll tax receipt, antique ribbon/metal memorabilia, Galveston, Texas maps, pins, stereoview photographs and other ephemera that make up the best of our Emancipation Day material history.

All Juneteenth t-shirt orders placed by May 26th are guaranteed Juneteenth delivery via USPS — so, tell a friend to tell a friend. It’s here and we hope you love it.

Our Juneteenth 2026 Annual Tee is on its way, dropping TOMORROW at 12pm est and we wanted to share our inspo/starting point for the design. We’ve collected thousands of vintage + found photos throughout the years and this ancestor on the right has been on our moodboard for many projects. His stance. His styling. His flag backdrop. His drip. The unknowns of his story.

“We want it to feel open, airy, light AND undeniable that Black folks live here. A soft place for us to land.”

Our recent interior clients brought us in to design and charm their colonial in Douglaston, Long Island/Queens and over the past 8 months, we’ve been working to transform the space into a warm and cozy haven for their family.

Think organic shape rugs, burl and light woods, lots of boucle, velvets and woven textures throughout. Neutral, but with a deliberate point of view. Soft and intentional.

This is the primary staircase, the sunroom and a tiny corner in their living room, where floor to ceiling french doors flank both sides of the room.

“We want it to feel open, airy, light AND undeniable that Black folks live here. A soft place for us to land.”

This is the dining room, the heart of the home and a soft respite for their family to host, gather and break bread — literally.
