Past - Present - Future Fringe has been around for about a century now. It has been in and out of style. Fringe first came into fashion as an embellishment in the 1920s. It is part of the flapper look. It is said that Fringe even originated way back in 3000 B.C. in Mesopotamia (now Iraq). It has been worn by all classes of people in ancient civilizations. They believe there is proof of this from old sculptures or statues. The fringe style was for decoration and practical use. An example of this is that there was a fringe style that helped repel rainwater. For native Americans, they do not trim seams. Doing so is considered wasteful. The famous designers for fringe were Madeline Vionette and Charles Worth. They pioneered fringe fashion during the 1920s. Fringe fell out of fashion. It made a strong comeback in the 1950s. It had a more rebellious look. Fringe seems to be back. Recently, this was seen on the runway. Names like Derek Lam, Edun, Hugo Boss, Diane Von Furstenberg, Anna Sui, and Prabal Gurung showcased fringe fashion. Now, if you want a fringe for your outfit, leave the accessories or your bags and shoes basic. For the outfit, you can wear this fringed blazer and nail the look!

Have you ever stopped to wonder how the clothes you’re wearing right now, that much-loved t-shirt or new pair of jeans, were made? Most of us don’t consider the intricacies of the textile industry, but the history of clothing and cloth production spins a rich and colorful tale that should be in everyone's repertoire. With that in mind, we’re taking it back to basics by shedding some light on the history of weaving and textiles – just to give you a little something to mull over the next time you load up your Trill bag with your favourite outfits. Weaving itself is one of the oldest surviving practices in the world. It was at this time that the creation of woven fabrics exploded, with every household producing cloth for personal use. Today, weaving has been almost exclusively commercialised, although many communities and individuals around the world continue to weave by hand, either for fun, for cultural identification, or out of necessity. Automatic power operated looms now dominate the trade, greatly improving and streamlining this important aspect of the textile industry.

Although the practice of weaving has moved almost entirely out of the public eye, it remains a crucial step in the long supply chain embedded within the global fashion industry. With a history that dates back some 30 000 years, weaving is truly one of the oldest extant skills practiced by humans on a global scale, and it is this impressive credential that renders it so deserving of a little acknowledgment the next time you reach for your favorite outfit!

Past - Present - Future The knitted sweater is a staple garment of everyday clothing, being functional, versatile, and fashionable. By the end of the nineteenth century, fashionable clothing had become more relaxed as outdoor and leisure pursuits grew in popularity, cumbersome multiple layers reduced, and knitted underwear transformed into outer-wear. The evolving forms of the sweater have become symbolic of their time. During the 1920s and 1930s, key events influenced the sweater in fashionable dress: Coco Chanel's use of knitted jersey fabric (inspired by men's sweaters) for relaxed but sophisticated style; the Fair Isle patterned pullover worn by the Prince of Wales; Elsa Schiaparelli's famous trompe l'oeil hand-knitted sweaters; and the jazz age of F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Great Gatsby. As knitting technology advances, the sweater remains integral to fashion and a basic garment capable of infinite variation. This fishbowl knit sweater is one such piece that brings your knit essential needs into a stylish perspective.

The story of the infamous jacket began with the creation of denim in Europe. Originally a fabric worn by Italian sailors, it was created in the cotton city of Genoa. The French town of Nîmes discovered the Italian material and impressed by the natural strength of the fabric, decided to replicate it. They failed, but what was created went by the name “de Nîmes”. The very first denim jacket came into being in the form of a work shirt around 1905 when Levi Strauss created the “Levi’s Blouse,” an outerwear garment intended as a companion to work trousers. It is a clothing item that encapsulates the '80s perfectly. Now, the denim jacket is making a comeback due to the revitalized interest in streetwear of the '80s and '90s. Denim jackets add a certain persona to the one who puts them on. In old movies, the blue overall is what the rebel, the renegade, and social wallflower character wear. Even the girl next door has her denim jacket! This PAISLEY DENIM JACKET is especially for people who want their fashion persona to speak columns for them, in every way!

The Slow Fashion Movement works towards creating an industry that benefits the planet and all people. The movement advocates principles similar to the principles of slow food, such as good quality, clean environment, and fairness for both consumers and producers.
Slow fashion is awareness and approach to fashion, which considers the processes and resources required to make clothing, particularly focusing on sustainability. It involves buying better-quality garments that will last for longer and values fair treatment of people, animals, and the planet. While slow, ethical and sustainable fashion all describe efforts towards an aspirational goal—rethinking our relationship to clothes—slow fashion combines a brand’s practices with a customer’s shopping habits. The movement works towards creating an industry that benefits the planet and all people.
Over the years, runways across the globe have been addressing environmental concerns one theme at a time including Sustainability, Zero Waste, and Slow Fashion. While the fashion industry has improved its social and environmental performance. The industry remains far from sustainable.
The brand Mishimi has chosen the "slow-fashion" philosophy, sourcing second-hand garments to give them a new life, or new ethical garments, created with environmentally-friendly techniques.

Past- Present - Future
Sustainable fashion is a term that’s increasingly used (and overused, often with little to back it up) these days, as we all become ever more aware of the serious environmental impact of our clothes —with the industry responsible for a shocking four to 10 per cent of global greenhouse-gas emissions every year. But what does sustainable fashion actually mean?
In short, it’s an umbrella term for clothes that are created and consumed in a way that can be, quite literally, sustained, while protecting both the environment and those producing garments. That’s why cutting CO2 emissions, addressing overproduction, reducing pollution and waste, supporting biodiversity, and ensuring that garment workers are paid a fair wage and have safe working conditions, are all crucial to the sustainability matrix.
One such piece is this one-of-a-kind vest is made from t-shirts and features two pockets and snap closures made by Margaret Burton Inc. that is rethinking fashion waste in Streetwear.

Even though fashion strives to be innovative and original, there is only so much that a designer can do to make their work distinct or eye-catching, and chief among these techniques is the opportunity to play with a garment’s cut. For the past decade or so, proportions on the runway have become more and more exaggerated, and suddenly, wildly oversized clothes have gone from shabby to chic. Likewise, in recent years, oversized fashion has found its way onto the runway by means of streetwear, a trend borrowed from skateboarding and early hip-hop culture. Our understanding of the jacket reflects on how the style can be interpreted as “edgy,” or “dangerous” depending on the wearer and the various stigmas that are unfairly attached to them. Talking about the brand, Feelings is a cut and sew brand from Paris. The boy in the photo is Ze Pequeno from 'City of God'. The set was inspired by a trip to Little Havana in Miami, and it is reminiscent of South American culture.
