After the indigo yarn is transferred from the individual cones to the warp beam, each "end" of warp yarn must be hand knotted into place on the loom before we can start weaving. Our Draper X3 is ready to start running!

Thus fresh batch of indigo yarn is about to become our next batch of 13 oz "ultra twist" denim. The Ultra Twist refers to the fact that we are using a very special 2-ply yarn, custom developed for us. Denim is typically made from 1-ply yarn which is more abundantly found and is less expensive to produce. But, a 2-ply yarn creates a fabric that is more durable, more resistant to abrasion, and more stable in its drape. It makes a better denim.
