Fact. My eldest sister (a fashion lover) was shocked to hear this truth, and unfortunately, this is an all too real reaction for many of us. As a long time lover/student of fashion, to be honest, I was shocked as well. The thought never crossed my mind that the world of fashion, which I had loved so much, could be causing so much harm, and not even really behind the scenes. It's quite out in the open if you know how to look for it, or even remotely understand the supply chain of the manufacturing of clothing, especially on a mass scale, which is how we find the industry today; a slave to fast fashion. Education is key. From the start to finish, everyone along the supply chain needs to be educated in sustainable ways to produce clothing, and implement it! Consumers have a responsibility themselves to know what they are buying, where it's coming from; who made it. We all must find the thing in life that we are passionate about, and for me, it's fixing an industry that has been corrupted for quite a while now, by taking humanitarian steps to prevent and hopefully reverse the damage that can, and has already been done. There are other ways. We can do it differently. We can and should, care. My plea to you all is, shop sustainably. Try. Try your hardest. And if you can't, for whatever reason, only purchase items you love, which you will properly take care of, and make last as long as possible. It can be done. It will help. It does help, on an unimaginable scale. At Stilxlivstid we try our best to provide you all with information about great brands, who are doing their part, but we want to hear from you. If you're looking for something in particular, curious about how to shop, want to buy sustainably but feel you can't afford it? We are here for you, to encourage you, and make this transition something that is sustainable for you as well! Together, we can do it!
