A Timeless Watch
Clothing for Life
Timeless. In 1725 King George I authorized the formation of a “Watch Force” to patrol the Scottish Highlands to keep the peace. Made up of six Scottish clans, all were instructed to wear the same tartan, a mix of black, dark blue, and green, which led to the patrols nickname, “The Black Watch.”
Black Watch along with other Tartan plaids were introduced in America in the early 1800s due to the influx of Scottish immigrants at that time, but it was not until the second half of the 20th century that Tartan Plaids gained iconic status in the US and global Fashion Industry.
Today Black watch Plaid is no longer just for evening events or holiday parties. So, join the “Watch” in our Black Watch Tartan Blazer, styled in single breasted, two button, notch lapels, two flap pockets with a ticket pocket, and side vents designed by Mark Rykken. Exclusively for Britches Bespoke.
The fabric is of 100% superfine wool and woven in Scotland; Our Black Watch Blazer is a stylish alternative to a solid navy blazer by adding a bit of Royal gentility to your individual style. It’s perfect for special evening events when worn with a navy cashmere turtleneck sweater and a pair of grey flannel trousers, or for those informal outings (as shown) with a denim shirt, a zip mock sweater, a stylish silk paisley scarf, and a pair of your favorite jeans.
There are also over twenty additional Authentic Tartan Plaid patterns to choose from in our Scottish Tartan Collection.
