…10 images that encapsulates gratitude as a means of awakening creativity…i created handmade, muslin cloth napkins for a recent picnic event that celebrated a spiritual community to which i belong…the wisdom and joy, warmth and humanity, freedom and love are all key principles that i have learn and shared with these awakened ones… these napkins with 1 hand- inscribed singular word emerged from meditating on gratitude and the tears that followed…my hope is with each napkin, nourishment is not just with food but also spiritual sustenance through the gift of love…

…follow up on cloth of stillness’s method hosted by Parsons BFA | FD Y2+ Y3 Workshop Series: Circular Systems BFA | FD program… on March 23, 2023 from 12-3 pm in the New School UC room 417

…the 3 hour workshop had 6 pedagogical passages that was embodied by the community via the 6 posted images: :

1. arriving together in stillness through a guided mindfulness meditation…
2. up-cycling begins with aligning the cloth scrap’s fiber origins…
3. applying mindful awareness to the sensory field of touch…
4. community ritual of offering a scrap to each other as expression of embodied care and belonging…
5.construction and form are ongoing dialogue of curiosity and wonder…
6. the community returns to stillness in togetherness concluding the workshop…

…This exploratory workshop with cloth of stillness by kien chu integrates a unique, up-cycling process that is called, , whereby mindfulness and meditation are intrinsic with the up-cycling practice, which encourages a holistic transformation through embodied care and belonging with each other and the Earth.

Sojourn
What will I make of a love that is mortal and fading?

This is all that I can know as a matter of fact but it isn't to disregard the interdependencies between the veil of things.

I want to know life on its last breath and where the edges of space can teach me about infinity boundless.

From here to there, selvage to selvage; my life is liken to this cloth and with each yarn, stitch and tear; I discover the miracle of all things earthy, imperfect and a strangely complete...
