Art Deco Trifold Screen with Hand-Painted Scenic Fox Hunting Motif, Circa 1920s.

A lively composition, this 3-panel hand-painted work on textile displays three figures in red on horseback accompanied by a group of greyhounds as they embark on a fox hunt.

The placement of a lone red fox cleverly hidden behind a central tree puts the viewer in their same line of sight (much like the screen was meant to shield one from public view). You can feel the motion within this piece as the horses and tree extend between the panels.

Executed on a black natural woven jute-like ground within an ebonized trifold wood frame. The painted scene is rendered in a pared down palette of cream, blue-grey and red.

Perfect for use as designed, or wall-mounted as art. The reverse of the screen was left unpainted. Unsigned.

Antique Watercolor Homestead Mixed Media Collage, Circa Late 19th Century.

Idyllic watercolor scene rendered on paper, cutout then layered over perforated paper. The hand-painted hillside homestead is nestled at the base of a valley, its tan facade pronounced against the blue hills. A walled road leads up to the home through a bustling array of natural flora layered onto the composition. A flock of birds escape to the left of the work painted over the punch paper. Mounted behind glass in a gesso and wood frame. Unsigned.

Antique Geometric Chip Carved Wall Pocket / Comb Box With Beveled Glass Mirror, Circa Late 19th Century.

An impressive 15-layer tramp art form, the design incorporates pyramid motifs and a central storage well, likely intended for a comb and shaving tools. The piece retains its original beveled glass mirror. Interestingly, the back is fully finished, complete with chip-carved detailing, signed “C. W.” The back also reveals that the frame was likely, largely constructed from repurposed wood cigar boxes, as was typical with many tramp pieces of the period.

Vintage Vibrant Surrealist Streetscape on Board, Dated 1969.

Rendered in acrylic on canvas board, this street scene employs a skewed perspective to draw in the eye. Painted in shades of vibrant lime, ochre, clementine, black and blue. A storefront with striped awning sits below an open window with a box planter while an arched door + windows adorn the opposing building. The streets are empty with no visible signs of inhabitants. Signed by the artist in the lower right, dated 1969. In the style of works by Giorgio de Chirico. Housed in a minimal dark stained pine frame with tan linen mat + gold liner.
