This past fall, I had the pleasure of working with Min as my research and communications intern.

As my practice has shifted toward consulting, strategy, and program development, Min supported me by researching aligned partners, organizing past work and case studies, and helping translate years of projects into clearer, more accessible presentations.

Beyond her skills, Min brought thoughtfulness, curiosity, and care to the work. They are currently studying radiologic technology and hold a strong interest in art-making.

Grateful for the time we worked together and excited for what’s ahead for them. 💫

As many of you know, my practice lives at the intersections of textiles, sustainability, education, and storytelling. 🌱

I also serve as the Memberships & Community Engagement Coordinator with the Black Fiber & Textile Network , a collective of Black makers, farmers, artists and other entrepreneurs weaving connections across the African diaspora.

🪡the ghost stitch puffer is one of my favorite living art pieces to date…I love that it can be exhibited & worn. My first time exhibiting it was at thanks to ✨

More about it:
These puffers are an homage to the women in my lineage who quilted, repaired, and reimagined material out of necessity and love. Their hands are present in my process, guiding the rhythm of stitching, reminding me that sustainability has always existed in ancestral practice long before it became industry language.

Layered Histories / Ghost Stitch lives between garment and sculpture, between protection and exposure. It asks what it means to wear memory, to wrap yourself in what has been discarded, and to make something transparent enough for truth to show through.

Sustainable design in motion with and at celebrating CiCi ✨

🪡 I had the pleasure of transforming Iegál Mezcal tees into upcycled tote bags for guests throughout the evening—each one cut, tied, and made on the spot. Seeing everyone stop by the table, chat, and walk away with something handmade was the best part.

Big thanks to .collins for bringing me in and to everyone who came through!

About the 3 Quilts I submitted:

“This feels familyiar”
Kawandi quilting with discarded/upcycled cotton fabric scraps.

Kawandi is the art of Siddi quilting, a traditional craft practiced by the Siddi women in India, who have maintained their African heritage even after migration. This feels familyiar uses fabric scraps that are handstitched in a counterclockwise pattern from the outside working towards the center. It not only showcases this unique cultural art form but also reflects on community, heritage, and sustainability while highlighting the improvisational form of quilting that is unique to African women who were enslaved in the U.S. As a form of ancestral practice the piece not only alludes to the cultural practice of upcycling materials, but serves as a visual representation of sustainability; connecting separate parts of a larger whole through a circular, endless motion.

In the Denim To Paper Workshops that I teach, I enjoy sharing how Denim and paper share a legacy rooted in cotton, indigo, and the labor of enslaved Africans…histories I get to carry and reclaim through making.
