I was whisked to Tangier three years ago, and was immediately swept off my feet by this city & its inhabitants. I love mixing & matching - and chanced upon this picture of a salon in a Tangier home that I had to share. I could not have found a better inspiration for my own “spring cleaning” projects !

Mourning the loss of the great actor Soumitra Chatterjee today. I never tire of his performances. His centrality to the work by Indian director Satyajit Ray is akin to other famed collaborations in the history of contemporary cinema - Mifune-Kurosawa, Mastroianni-Fellini, De Niro-Scorsese & Max von Sydow-Bergman.
A great loss for cinema & for the world.

Feeling inspired by a signature today. This one belongs to the Grand Emperor Suleiman, the Ottoman ruler. I love everything about it. If I let my imagination wild, I can even see the Turkish Nazar Boncuk (evil eye) pattern in there. I wish my signature were grander!

In an atmosphere where political leaders have sowed distrust in science & belittled women, I was thrilled to learn that Drs. Charpentier & Doudna were the first women to share the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Dr. Doudna was already a role model for my daughter. She was jumping up & down when we explained the significance of the Nobel Prizes. These women have expanded the borders of science & made a profound positive impact on all living things. By shining bright in these dark times, they give me hope for a future full of light. Aren’t they rock stars ?
