I've been living life offline, trying not to view the world around me through my phone camera.
It's a balance to document life while living vibrantly, but I am doing my best to show you what it's like to travel and see the sites. The one thing that I cannot properly convey is all of the connections with the people that I've met during this week abroad. I love to share, but I also love the small conversations and personal stories that cannot be shown to public eyes and ears.

When I have some more time, I'm going to break down all the things that I did today. Let's just say it was enough that I also snuck in an hour-long nap before dinner.


We visited the palace. This is the lace collar of a king. I cropped out the bloodstain because he was partially blinded in this outfit.

Bathroom tiles at the palace. They are all unique, showing different scenes.

Carved ivory. It was interesting to see that these geometric shapes were very popular. You can see the hollowed areas showing incredible skill in carving

Tapestries showing military successes

I love how expressive the faces are in this tapestry. You can tell who each person is by their unique features, but you can also tell what they were thinking and maybe even what they were talking about.

The Palace treasury contained so much, but I really enjoyed this cold work embroidery on a royal saddle.

I'm not really into jewelry and decorative objects like this, I thought it was interesting. How this goblet is absolutely covered in cameos.

I took hundreds of pictures of the botanical motifs in the palace art.

Lots of detail in these crowns. Again, I'm more interested in the patterns and rotis used in the ornamentation then the actual jewels involved

Denmark Day 2 - classes+community
I met the group in the morning for an introduction and then we all split up for lunch in town.

After lunch, I taught a stacked stitch class.

Visiting the yarn shop in town.
There's a great selection of Danish brands, nothing that I haven't seen at home, but there are more options available here

We ate dinner at a food court and a former industrial space, this sunset photo was taken at 9:45 p.m.

It was pretty late when we arrived back at the hotel, tomorrow I'm teaching a brand new class.

As a knitwear designer with a lot going on, sometimes I have to turn mundane errands into a little break from work.

Have you been following me for the last few months, you know that I've been posting some of these adventures as if we were still on social media in 2016. The images are just random inspiration and cool shots of the neighborhood.

This is an Isabel Marant alpaca sweater. Does this look like the same stitch pattern that's on the cover of Elizabeth Zimmerman's treasury, the blue one?

I'm always looking at flower motifs for inspiration

More stack type motifs. By the way, I'm aware and being somewhat sarcastic when I say these designers are copying my motifs. These patterns are pretty ubiquitous and this one is so common that I think it might even have a name. If anyone knows what this pattern might be called, leave a comment.

A close-up of the bedspread reveals that it is exactly the same as my fascination knitting pattern. I also have a quilt pattern of this motif made with jelly roll precuts but nobody wants to publish.
Actually, nobody believed that I was actually the designer of the quilt when I pitched it to brands. So that's a different issue.
I guess they don't want in on that bedding trend. The quilt is super easy by the way.
