bring back the A-2 Flight Jacket into military use in 1987. Since then we have supplied Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard units, as well as many foreign militaries. We have also been popular among civilian pilots, air show performers, military pilots, movie stars, sports stars, and even current and former U.S. Our clothing is meant for the function and fashion conscious who are looking for high quality outerwear, which is predominantly made in the USA. We strive to produce a quality garment that can last years and be passed down generations. At Cockpit USA it is our mission to preserve the heritage of American life styles and take pride in reminiscing the classic iconic eras of American fashion.

For versatility, durability, and protection against the elements, the flight jacket has remained an enduring classic. From the cockpit to just about anywhere, the A-2 is a timeless style built to be worn.

For our Battleworn™ A-2, we started with the classic pattern used for our WWII government-issue Type A-2 and recreated what one of these jackets might look like after 80 years of wear and tear. Crafted from pre-aged horsehide, it’s aged to perfection, giving a new jacket the character and patina of a well-loved original.

Some legacies aren’t inherited. They’re flown. 🫡

More than seventy years after his great-uncle and grandfather completed their advanced flight training in Harvard, took to the skies with his father aboard FE511, a flight that beautifully reflects how aviation connects generations.

Adorning James’ flight helmet is Cockpit USA’s 50th Anniversary commemorative artwork. To see our anniversary mark become part of such a meaningful flight is an honor and a reminder of why we continue to celebrate aviation heritage after five decades.

On this flight, James wears the U.S.A.F. 21st Century A-2 Jacket, a modern interpretation of an American classic, built for those who continue the legacy of flight.
