What I See

Welcome to my fashion illustration blog entitled, WHAT I SEE. Here I will be publishing illustrations of my fashion designs which are based on photos I’ve found online as well as things I see in the world around me (hence the blog’s title!) I will also occasionally publish my renderings of other designers’ creations as well as faces in the fashion\entertainment world that catch my eye (I mean after all, one can never get tired of looking at pretty things can one, lol!) I will also occasionally post my drawings of dogs because well, who doesn't like to look at dogs, lol!

My hope with this blog is that after viewing my creations of what I see, it will hopefully change how and what YOU see! And of course, if you'd like a drawing of a favorite face or dog, please let me know.

Now as for the picture below, the drawing on the left is my rendering of the picture on the right which is of Vittoria Ceretti as she appeared on the runway at the Valentino Fashion Show during Paris Fashion Week. The fabulous makeup was done by the legendary Pat McGrath.

Isn’t that makeup to die for?!

NASA Inspired My Oscar Dress Idea

Oh how I love watching the Oscars! For me, it’s like the Superbowl, my birthday and Christmas all rolled up into one! And while I am a huge movie fan and am truly interested in who wins, it’s watching the fashions on the red carpet that truly sets my heart aflutter! And of course up until her passing, I would faithfully catch Joan Rivers’ E! Fashion Police the day after Oscar night just to catch her hysterical and often correct fashion reviews.

In preparation for watching this years’ Oscar fashion show, I took to Instagram to check out the creations of some of my favorite fashion designers from Paris Fashion Week to see what might show up on the red carpet. While randomly scrolling however, I came across the photo on the right which shows New York City taken from NASA's International Space Station.
As I looked at it, there was something in the shapes and the golden lights of NYC that I “saw” an Oscar gown that I needed to draw.

The drawing on the left is the result of what I “saw” in the picture.

While I love gazing up at the stars, I never thought a picture from NASA gazing down at my favorite city would be the inspiration for an Oscar dress!

So tell me, dear reader, do you see what I see?
