Where did the most watched sporting event in the world begin?

The creation of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) occurred in Paris, France, back in 1904. Robert Guérin was named the first FIFA President. The organisation is formed with seven different members which were; Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

In 1930 the first ever game of the prestigious tournament occurred. It involved 13 teams and was held in Uruguay. All matches happened in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, where the host nation would go on to win the competition after beating Argentina 4-2 in an exciting final.

In 2026, international players aim to leave their legacy.

Fernandinho was one of the greatest Premier League midfielders of all time. Legacy isn’t inherited, it’s earned, one action at a time.

He was born in Londrina and joined Manchester City at 28 years old after spells in Brazil and Ukraine. Fernandinho would go on to become a legend of the game.

In 2013/14, Fernandinho formed a formidable midfield partnership with Yaya Touré, helping Man City secure the League Cup and a second Premier League title.

Four years later, he helped the Cityzens lift another League Cup and played an integral role in Manchester City becoming Premier League centurions.

By the end of his time in Manchester, Fernandinho had made 383 appearances for Man City and won five Premier League titles.

In 2022, Argentina won the worldwide tournament for the first time since 1986, a monumental moment in their country for all their fans.

After many years of challenges and setbacks including losing two finals, this was a time for celebration. Something much bigger than the game itself.

Around 4,000,000 fans took the streets of Buenos Aries to witness the open-top bus parade, with one fan in particular describing it as one of the best things that could have happened in life. Millions of people brought together physically and emotionally in one environment because of the beautiful game.
