Happy Juneteenth!
Juneteenth is a holiday in the USA that commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, and the official emancipation of enslaved African people in the former Confederate States of America on June 19, 1865.
While the official abolition of slavery in the US occurred in 1863, many enslaved Africans and their descendants were still held in servitude until June 19, 1865. On this date, the federal army of the United States occupied Texas (after the official surrender of Confederate forces at the end of the Civil War), and announced that all enslaved people in the United States were free.

What came afterwards was the continued struggle for civil rights in the US through the 14th Amendment to the US constitution, the Reconstruction era, Jim Crow laws, the post-Civil Rights era and today.
Today Juneteenth is celebrated as a state holiday or day of observance in 45 states.
