Altered By Amy Altered By Amy provides high quality professional alterations. Amy Clark Rine is an expert seamstress with 25,000 hours of sewing experience.

Those hours began when she learned how to do hand sewing before kindergarten. At age six, Amy inherited a ‘real’ Singer Featherweight sewing machine from her great aunt Daisy and the story goes on. She participated in 10 years of 4-H, went to college for fashion merchandising, sewed for two children and then worked in the home décor and toy industry for 14 years. So you could say, sewing was a personal addiction for Amy. At other times, she managed the sewing process professionally. Too many projects to count, three patents and many products later, she still loves sewing. Currently, Amy does product development projects for small companies, photography samples, mini-production runs, sewing classes AND alterations. Amy has done so much sewing; alterations come easy to her. Amy is a perfectionist and very practical. She believes “all things are possible, all things are fixable”. As the customer, you get to decide. She is located in Newark, Ohio and serves customers in Licking, Franklin, Knox, Coshocton and Perry counties.

✂️ A Little Advice From Your Seamstress!

Brides, here’s something I wish everyone knew before ordering their wedding gown:

𝗕𝘂𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲.

A dress that’s a little too big can often be altered beautifully. But a dress that’s several inches too small may require extensive reconstruction, and that can cost far more than expected.

After years of bridal alterations, this is one of the biggest pieces of advice I can give brides:

Setting custom bustle points on a multi-layered lace and tulle wedding gown. With this much fabric, every point has to be carefully placed so all those beautiful layers lift evenly and securely.

A little patience, a lot of precision, and some serious bustle engineering goes into this part of the process. 👰‍♀️✨

NO WALK-IN HOURS UNTIL NOVEMBER 2 🪡

After carefully reviewing our fall schedule, we need to pause all basic alteration walk-in hours through October 31.

We are still open by appointment for our currently scheduled bridal and formalwear customers. This allows us to give every dress the time and attention it deserves during the busiest part of our wedding season.

Basic alteration walk-in hours will resume Monday, November 2.
