Members of the Newberry Area Ambassadors recently made a visit to Dr. Derek Dake, owner of Black Bear Eye Care, located within Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. Dr. Dake, who had worked for a number of years with previous owner Dr. Dale Muth, bought the practice on August 1, 2025. Black Bear Eye Care specializes in eye exams (pediatrics through adults), contact lenses, and glasses. Black Bear Eye Care is opened Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from 1 - 2 p.m.
