Handmade Gifts … Not everyone will appreciate this type of gift, but I always try to include something handmade in the gifts that I give to my family each year.
In the past I have made Personalized Pillows, Blankets, Fudge, Candied Nuts, Personalized Cups, Wreaths, and various other handmade items. I usually pick one item each year and make it for everyone on my list of family members. (about 25 each year)
I usually don’t start these until about October but I got a head start on them this year and started in June. (good thing because life has gotten crazy the last few months) Here is a sneak peek into what I am making this year…lol
So, I ask you… do you give handmade/ homemade gifts…either a craft or baked good? And do you like receiving this type of gift?

Like I said a few weeks ago. I have way TOO many UFO/WIP’s. I wanted to show you one that I finally finished. This baby quilt top has been made for years but I never got to put it together and quilted it because we started renovations on our house, and a lot of my items went into a storage unit, Including my quilt frames.
When I decided to finish a lot of these projects, I came across this one and really did not want to drag my frames out of storage for this one small quilt. I have always hand quilted in the past and needed the frame to stretch the quilt tight so the stitches would be even.
I started doing research on something that I have never done before…. Machine Quilting!! I had to look up the best way to do it on just a regular sewing machine. I had to purchase a few supplies (2 new presser feet and basting spray) and I jumped in and went for it. I don’t think it turned out too bad for my 1st time. As you can see from the photos, I did a simple straight stitch pattern. I think that I was able to keep them pretty straight. With practice I will get more adventurous and maybe try free motion quilting as well.
I will be listing this "Old McDonald" baby quilt for sale on my eBay and Esty stores in the near future.

UFO – WIP
I am sure that all crafters will know what these letters mean. UFO (UnFinished Object), WIP (Work In Progress). These are the projects or crafts that for some reason or another have yet to be finished. They may have been set aside last week or they may have been sitting around for years. I am ashamed to say that I have LOTS of these in my craft room. In the photo I have circled in red all the bins/boxes that have UFO’s / WIP’s yet to complete. I work a lot with fleece so that is why the bins are so big. I have set a goal to have 30% of these done by the end of the year. To help keep me on track so I don’t start any new projects, I have removed all of my regular fabric stash out of my house and placed it in a storage unit that we already had. There is so much stuff left to complete if I think about it too much it can be overwhelming but I am determined to complete as many as possible. Please let me know below that you have UFO's to complete also. That way I will not feel so alone...lol

I made my 1st sale of one of my handmade items in 2007, but to tell you the truth I cannot remember exactly what it was because I make so many different items.
Well, even though I have been selling since 2007 I have never had a logo for my handmade “Hobby” business.
I thought it was time that I had that logo so I could put it on business cards, my page and anything else I decided to do. First, I thought about it for a few weeks and searched the internet to make sure I would not be copying anyone else’s logo by accident. Then I told my husband what I was looking to do. Since he is a computer programmer, he took those ideas and started to come up with a few variations.
I had a hard time deciding so I posted the different versions on my personal FB page asking for suggestions and votes on what they thought was the best. I received a couple of good suggestions on changes that would make it better. So, we did a couple more versions of the designs from those suggestions and put it out once again for a vote.
After the 2nd round of voting and my final tweaking of the design, here is my new logo for “Jody’s Handmade Creations” I wanted to keep this design simple because I do many different hobbies and I wanted it to represent any thing that I may do in the future also.
