Eleven years ago I chased a dream….

I left a very successful Fortune 500 marketing career to open a women’s clothing boutique. It was risky, nerve wracking, but something I desired to do 🌸. I named my store - Primrose Park - after my favorite neighborhood in London - Primrose Hill.

This year we celebrate eleven years in business! I am proud of this accomplishment because retail is HARD and competing against big box retailers and online retailers can be daunting.,,.but still to this day there is a special sentiment for the town where my store operates and that means something.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of and supported our journey over the years. You are appreciated.

Last night, Nisswa celebrated the Festival of Lights — a tradition generations have enjoyed to kick off the holiday season.

While outside The Pickle (our municipal bar), I was unexpectedly confronted by a woman who became verbally aggressive. I asked several times not to engage and tried to walk away, but she blocked my path and finally when she decided to “let me leave”physically pushed me. It was intimidating and frightening. A friend helped me find another way back to my store just so I could get to safety.

I called our police chief immediately, officers responded, and a report has been filed. Earlier this week this same woman sent me a derogatory email, so this escalation was especially concerning.

I’m sharing this because intimidation and physical aggression have no place in our town or anywhere for that matter. I’m grateful for my friend, for our local police, and for those who reached out after hearing the call on the scanner.

The Festival of Lights should mark the start of a joyful season — not fear caused by a 20-something acting out high-school-style hostility. I’m 49, and I just beat cancer. This is not something I need in my life.

Not liking or voting for an elected official is one thing. But in an era where political violence is very real, incidents like this are genuinely scary.

That dream became Primrose Park, inspired by the charm of Primrose Hill, London, one of my favorite neighborhoods in the world.

From opening my first store in Northeast Minneapolis to establishing our permanent home in Nisswa, it’s been 11 years of curating women’s clothing, accessories, jewelry, and gifts that are stylish, unique, and timeless.
