December is always a busy month for everyone, then we add two birthday celebrations to the mix. It’s so easy to get caught up in the business of the season and this year was no exception for our family. But it was different this year. Unfortunately cancer consumed all my available resources. On my weakest days it required me to depend on others in a way I never have before. So today on the eve of Jesus’ birthday I’m reminded that in my weakness His power works best. That is the gift I’m most thankful for this Christmas. His power flowed through many people but it was with extraordinary power through my mom, Steve and Matt over the past few weeks.
Mom and Steve thank for the years of energy you have poured into me and the kids and while sometimes thankless it will not return void. Thank you for faithfully showing up in times of crisis. Thank you for being the lighthouse in our lives, a constant, always there leading us to safety and calmer waters. You both have been an incredible support to us, giving of your time, money and energy without expectation. Thank you for allowing God to work through you both.
Matt thank you standing alongside me on my hardest days. Thank you for allowing me to lean and depend on you in ways that are unfamiliar and a little scary. In you, God gave me the gift of kindness, patience, gentleness and a love so great that all can see it.
As the day closes out I pray the path that leads to misery closes and that my family and I may rest in the light of the world for all the days to come.
