At Robinson’s, we value the history behind each piece we sell, and this A. Piazza Carrara sculpture is no exception.

This bust was sculpted by late 19th-early 20th century artist Antonio Piazza, a master sculptor from northern Italy. From the “A. Piazza Carrara” collection, this bust was carved from white marble gathered from Carrara, Italy, a mountainous town nestled in Tuscany. Piazza’s choice of medium directs attention to the Neoclassical artistic movement, in which artists leaned into simple, elegant, and classic styles as opposed to the playful, unbalanced style of Rococo art, the preceding movement. The bust’s uncomplicated and chic appearance is what makes the piece especially romantic. One of many female busts crafted by Piazza, we are humbled to have this authentic work in our store.
