I had a dream, wrote it on a napkin, was fearless in my pursuit, saw that vision from my napkin become a reality, and in came my very first customer, Ms. Viola Wingate! That was seven years ago. And since then, TRENDY FAMILY (because you're more than Trendy Friends), you've been along for my Scary, Big, Wild and Amazing DREAM! It hasn't really hit me yet, that I'm actually closing my retail store to pursue other Scary Dreams, but what an amazing SEVEN YEARS we've had together!
I've heard you express that Trendy Dollar was your Happy Place, Your Favorite Place, Your Jewelry Candy Store, Your Go-To Place, to even your SANCTUARY! You've helped us earn First Runner Up as Charleston's Favorite Jewelry and Accessories Store in just our second year. WOW! (I didn't have to compete again because I knew we were #1).
I cherish every conversation, your prayers, your friendship, your food (yes even food) and your LOVE! I am so humbled by what we've accomplished together! THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've captured our First Day and our Last Day together. I've also captured our last customer, Shenieka Smalls-Voluntad, who received a mini shopping spree. Please feel free to tag yourselves in these pictures.
I would like to send a special thanks to our former employees who helped served you with integrity and amazing customer service! And a special thank you to my cousin Kahaja who was as crazy as me in starting this journey and getting me to the Finish Line. I'd also like to send a special THANK YOU to my Bonus Daughter Amaya, seen in these last few pics. She started with me at 14 years old and has maintained a level of professionalism beyond her years. To my daughters Laila and Naja, seen in the screenshots, THANK YOU for getting up out of bed on the weekends and during the summers with little or no pay for the first few years. And to my amazing husband Jamal! THANK YOU for working every Saturday for seven years (definitely no pay) right by my side, while I pursued my dreams. You were my biggest cheerleader, even when I doubted myself at times. THANK YOU SO MUCH! And THANK YOU for being crazy enough to help me see my next Big and Scary Dreams come to Reality! 😘😘😘
For anyone with dreams of starting a business, you're already 90% there! The other 10% is just learning the process. GO FOR IT!
