💛There’s a lot to love about what I do. Travel, interacting with bright young minds and bright old minds alike, a flexible schedule. But today I’m feeling gratitude for something a little less blatant. 💙Last week I read my book to all the K - 2nd grade classes at my daughter’s school. We sang, danced, made paper rockets, and wrote about what we would wish for if we saw a shooting star. 🧡Ten years ago I wouldn’t have dreamed I could lead a class of 18 elementary aged kids, let alone 12 sets of them. 💚But turns out it’s invigorating to share my passion, to teach kindness, and receive hugs and waves in the hall that gave me enough warm fuzzies to last a month. 💜There’s so much joy in what I do and today I am so very thankful.

Happy birthday to one of the most beloved storytellers of our time, Margaret Wise Brown (1910-1952) who appreciated and advocated for quiet time. What is your favorite Margaret Wise Brown book? I have to go with Goodnight Moon. I can only hope to create a children’s book that becomes such a classic.

I often do this activity as part of my school and library visits and will be doing it tomorrow at the Eastport Annapolis Neck Library for free story time at 10 am. Among the wishes for ponies and a million dollars are the wishes that touch your soul. 💜
