You may have noticed the lack of posting over the past months with Red Barn Quilting. It is with sadness that we let you know we have lost our leader, business partner and mom. We are still not taking customer quilts at this time, hoping things settle down and we adjust to a new normal. I felt the need to sew something this weekend and put on a quilt my niece did. Fun tips with this quilt... I had her starch all fabrics before cutting due to the bias edges and many seams involved. Starch has come a long way and I have been starching a lot of my fabrics lately. It does not attract insects like years before, it gives more stability with piecing and helps with cleaner intersections. It is a must when dealing with tiny pieces. That's my tip for the day. This is the most adorable quilt I have seen and instantly thought of seaweed and fish floating by for a quilting pattern. The quilter agreed and I love the result. Each mermaid has a different bottom along with the other blocks being different yet complimentary fabrics. So cute!

Customer has a ton of leftover fabrics from previous quilts and sewed jelly roll strips together. While this quilt will be used as a picnic/utility quilt, we wanted to give a 2nd design with a beautiful quilting pattern on the backside. So excited to share these quilts with everyone. Customer brought us 2 of these tops for quilting and I just loved the fabric. They will be perfect for using in a Florida beach house and I can just feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair. Our modern quilting design added just the right amount of punch! And a fun side note was the quilt maker was my boss during my college days. So nice to see her again and she was still just as sweet as she was back then!
