😆 Get excited, you all! It's time for a When-Harry-Met-Sally style love story / very special edition of in our Founders Story series...
(Just look at these kids, will ya?!)
These are Shush Plush co-founders, Rob and Laurie, on one of their very first dates back in September 2013.
They met earlier that year while volunteering at their local chapter of Burrito Project, a grassroots org. that gathers every other week to hang out in a friend's kitchen and build burritos to hand out to unhoused neighbors in Venice Beach (Los Angeles).
It was definitely intrigue at first sight, but (as fate would have it) they both already had g/bf's so they stayed in the .
A few months go by without seeing each other, then they reconnect again at Burrito Project, but this time they're both *SINGLE* ‼️
Rob asked Laurie out to lunch since they worked down the street from each other. They forget what they ordered that day but let's just say there was more being served than just the food-- flirty vibes! 😉
At the end of lunch, Rob asked Laurie out on a real date, but she was unsure of his relationship status so casually replied, 'I'll need to check my schedule and get back to you.'
As soon as Rob couldn't see her, she ran (literally) back to the office to stalk his Facebook profile relationship status...it read, SINGLE so she immediately knew it had to be true (FB was the most reliable source of this info to her early-twenties thinking 😄). She DM'd him back to confirm the date, and the rest, as they say is his-and-her story!
🥰 One marriage, one house, one awesome kiddo, many world travels, and now one business later...here we are!
TL;DR: Never Underestimate the Magic of Burritos to Bring People Together 😉
