iving beings and life. All life comes from the ocean and we need to be protectors and stewards of our oceans and actively protect and give back. The humuhumunukunukuapa’au is the Hawaiian State fish, a beautiful and colorful reef triggerfish that evokes in this ocean-lover a feeling of love and spirituality ever since I encountered a Humu snorkeling in Maui with a very special friend, many years ago. Seeing the fish in nature or in images always brings me back to that place of love and spirituality and appreciation of our oceans…Honestly, it still brings out the ‘Keiki’ in me! ( Keiki = kid in Hawaiian !)
BTW, no its NOT the longest ‘fish name’ in Native Hawaiian ! (It means, of course, ‘fish with a nose that looks like a pig!’) That distinction belongs to the Lauwiliwilinukunukuoioi! Humu Surf Designs uses images from nature, soft pastels and natural, bright colors taken from nature, sea, sky, and living things! We believe that looking good translates into feeling good and doing good things!
