The national newspaper outlined her life’s story as not only a profound, hardworking sister of the Catholic faith, but also as a Mother of 3, Grandmother of 7, and great grandmother of 5. The story depicted how Sister Jannette was raised in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, during a time when black women were not encouraged to pursue a lifetime career as a catholic nun. and because of this her dream was subdued, but was not withheld from her. Sister Jannette has been nominated for the Harriett Tubman Award - five years in a row which honors women who are symbolized as a (Moses of her People) by the National Black Sisters Conference. She served two, two year terms on the Board of the National Black Sisters Conference. She works in conjunction with the board for the (IAACEC) Inter-regional African American Catholic Evangelization Conference. Sister Jannette was also the Coordinator of Black Catholic Ministry in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Indiana, She started the Boniface Hardin Black Catholic Theology and Spirituality Institute. Sister Jannette ignited a passion for sewing at an early age, so it became natural when fellow Priests began to request their Vestments from her in various afrocentric styles; from there she formed JP's Afrocentric Priest Vestments. In addition to the many, many annual projects she builds, forms and directs, Sister Jannette‘s main focus is on her devotion to servicing God’s people.
