Just a little thank-you from one working person and small business to all of you. 🤎
Labor Day feels a little heavier to me this year.
I spend my days talking with so many of you — parents, teachers, nurses, service workers, small business owners, caregivers, artists, tradespeople, military families… people who are working incredibly hard and still feeling stretched thinner and thinner.
This economy has not been kind to working families. The cost of simply existing has gone up, while so many people are being asked to do more with less.
Labor Day is more than a long weekend or a sale. It exists because workers before us stood together and fought for better — fair wages, safer workplaces, reasonable hours, equal pay and dignity. Those things matter just as much today.
One of the things I believe most deeply, both personally and through Moon Child, is that people matter more than profit and community matters. We should care whether our neighbors can afford groceries, housing, childcare and healthcare. We should root for one another instead of climbing over each other to get ahead.
And I want to recognize the people doing the work that so often goes unseen — the caregivers, the parents doing unpaid labor, the people working two jobs, the service workers, the small business owners trying to keep the lights on, and everyone who gets up and does it all over again tomorrow.
Moon Child exists because you continue to show up for this little shop, even when your own budgets are tight. I will never take that for granted.

May we keep fighting for a world where hard work is valued, people are paid fairly, and taking care of one another is never considered radical.
