Fun fact, the reason the butterfly is used as the ms logo is due to the lesions on the brain often look like butterfly’s on an mri scan. It also represents the profound life transformation, resilience, and hope experienced by those diagnosed.

This week I made something different because March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month.

It Isn’t just physical!
While MS can cause mobility challenges, vision problems, and numbness, it also causes things you can’t always see:
• Extreme fatigue
• Brain fog and memory issues
• Sensory overload
• Emotional strain

Some days, Dustin looks completely fine. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t fighting through exhaustion or brain fog. MS is often called an “invisible illness” because so much of the battle happens beneath the surface.

🧡MS MONDAY🧡

Today we kick off our very first MS MONDAY as we count down to the MS Walk on May 16th, where our team, Dustin’s Pit Crew, will be will be walking to support Multiple Sclerosis research and to rally behind Dustin!

🧡What is MS?
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, disrupting communication between them. Symptoms can include vision problems, numbness, fatigue, mobility challenges, & cognitive difficulties. Every person’s MS journey looks different, but for many it can change daily life in major and unpredictable ways.

Two years ago, I watched Dustin loose his sight, mobility, memory, & the use of the left side of his body during a major flare up. Through there, meditations, and determination he fought his way back. But MS is unpredictable and stating Mobil is something he works hard for every day. So when he said “I want to do this while I can still walk”, I knew we had to make this walk meaningful!

🧡This week’s fundraiser item:
For this week’s fundraiser I created handmade polymer clay MS support “ribbons” earrings and keychains. The orange ribbon is the official symbol for MS awareness.

🧡Why orange?
Orange is the official MS awareness color. The color represents energy, hope, strength, & determination, a reminder of the strength people living with MS show every day.
