It's always been about more than business to me. When I first opened Mary Rose Boutique in almost 5 years ago, I couldn't have predicted the changes we would have gone through. However, one thing has remained true since the beginning, we have always strived to be a safe space.

A place for our community to connect.

A place for people that have not always felt comfortable shopping to come and to feel welcome, seen, respected, exactly as they are.

A place to uplift and encourage one another.

A place to be seen and heard.

A place to show up without expectation.

A place to simply be.

My hope Is that people in all bodies feel safe in my store.

If you have not shopped in downtown Oregon City for a while, I would like to invite you to come down. We are located on 5th and Main Street and our entire block is full of incredibly talented retail businesses. We all appreciate your support.

My shop is open daily 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and as amazing as it is that we have survived this far through the pandemic, I would like to humbly ask for your continued support. Not just for my business, but for all of us in retail spaces downtown.

My intention is to create community, cultivate connection, and foster healing.

I hope to see you soon. Please say hello! I love making connections with people in my community.

Why a collective space?

Why not run things the way they have always been ran?

Because community is the future. I can't carry the weight of the boutique by myself any longer. We are building a collective space where makers, artist, and healers, all come together. The lift becomes light. Mutual benefit. We all rise together.

Join us at the Collective Boutique this Saturday, 3/11 from 12p-3p for our first meet the makers event. 10 local, small batch, women own business will be showcasing products for sale.

We cannot wait to see you there! 509 main Street in Oregon City 😘

Meet the maker!!!
handcrafted is one of the incredibly talented artist/makers to be joining us at the collective Boutique space this Saturday at our event! Come by 509 main Street in between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and meet this talented human! A bit more about Niyyah in her own words:

"Niyyah is a healthcare worker by day, then comes home and trades her gloves for... well, more gloves. She intentionally handcrafts cold process soaps and her unique recipe of coconut wax blend candles with both clean burning cotton wicks and FSC certified sustainable wooden wicks. Careful consideration is paid to the vegetarian, plant based ingredients used for all of her lotions and potions... and while that knowledge is ever evolving, one of her goals is to use high yield plants, organic when possible, and those that lend themselves towards better labor practices for the hands that harvest them.

Her products are known for being high quality and for having unique, clean and natural scents without harsh chemicals. Her line is part woo-woo, and part Dad joke. "Orange you glad you found this soap" and "Self-Love spell soap" are prime examples.

Despite her business having just turned one, she has been crafting candles since 1995! She does have her own website and Etsy store, but focuses on her product in the hands of Oregonians and can be found in local markets, and small businesses around Portland and Eugene. "

When I was initially starting to form the plans for creating a collective space of small makers and healers in the current Boutique space in Oregon City, I knew I wanted to bring in more eco-friendly bags. I was connected to Natalie from , and once we communicated, I knew that I wanted to bring her beautiful pieces into this space. Not only are her pieces made from recycled material, made in the USA, washable, they are cute and incredibly functional. All the things I desire to support in this business.

In her own words,

"At MSL Bags we believe that everyone can contribute to creating a more sustainable world. One of the easiest ways to do this is by intentionally choosing the things you buy.

Opting for ethically sourced, locally produced, eco-conscious products is a “vote” for what you believe in, what you support, and what you want to see more of."

You can find Natalie's work in the boutique space in Oregon City. We are located at 509 main Street Oregon City Oregon and open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. . You can also find her pieces on our website!

Meet the maker,

Jenn will be showcasing her work at our first "meet the makers" event on Saturday, March 11 from 12p-3p at the boutique/collective in

She will also be hosting workshops at our collective space in the near future!

In her own words:

"I believe we are all whole and worthy. I also believe we are all creative beings. A guiding question for me is what Mary Oliver asked: What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Creativity has been a healing force in my life ever since I attended my first Intentional Creativity workshop many years ago. I loved it so much that I became certified as an Intentional Creativity Teacher and Coach. In addition, I am a licensed counselor.

I love sharing the healing force of creativity with others. Creativity is an essential part of our wellness. Through Hearfull Art, I offer coaching and creativity workshops. The theme that flows through all my offerings is self-esteem: rediscovering your own authentic self, cutting through the BS of conditioning, and creating the story of your own life. Creativity is a powerful alchemizing process, and a way to access one’s inner knowing.

“Intentional Creativity® is a path of accessing the within – the language of the heart. (Shiloh Sophia) "

Come meet Kristen with Kristen] at our first Meet the Makers event on Saturday, 3/11 from 12p-3p!

At the Mary Rose Boutique at 509 main St in Oregon City.

Here is a bit more about her and her work:

"My drive to create is as involuntary as breathing.

Infinitely inspired by the outdoors: color of stone, movement in the clouds, sounds of the water, distance to the stars and planets, constant change in contrast and mood as the Earth spins us toward and away from the sun. I’ll take pictures all day long to capture shape, shadow, light, ambience and bring that back to my bench to collaborate with the tools, silver, and gems that await.

Jewelry, as a reflection or source of power, wealth, protection, homage, hope, celebration, and expression are just a handful of reasons it has woven its way into human lives for thousands of years. What are you searching for today?

Be Well,
Kristen"

Kristen] will be housing their product in our collective and I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to work with this beautiful human ❤️

01/25/2023

Sustainability in fashion goes beyond the materials an item is made from. While this is critical in protecting our planet, sustainability also refers to the ethical and fair treatment of every human that comes in contact with the item.

Unsafe working conditions (exposure to harmful chemicals, physical and emotional abuse), child labor (according to the International Labour Organization, 170 million children wordwide are being forced to work, many within the fashion supply chain), and low (aka not livable) wages are just a handful of major issues at the core of the fast fashion industry.

Cheap fashion may be cheap to the consumer, however, the cost of the garment lies in unethical production.

What can we do?

Take a pause when purchasing an item. Learn to ask some important questions. What is the item made out of? Will it last? Can I wear it in multiple ways and for multiple occasions? Where was the item made? How transparent is the supply chain? From harvesting the materials to make the garment to the factory it was produced in...what is the real cost of this garment?

Our goal with Hope Continues is to be transparent in our entire process. The design, the material harvesting, the production. We want to be as clear as possible.

Once we know better, we must continue to do better.

Inclusion is the way we will see real change in the world of fashion. Humans in all bodies deserve to access clothing made with regard to the dignity of the workers who made it, the environment, and animals. Being exclusive is not new to the fashion industry, but it is time for change. On so many levels. This is where we can start. The actions of one impact us all. It takes courage to do something different and one small ripple can create a wave of change. Who is ready to be that ripple?

Model wearing our Bast Coat. Go true to size or size down one in this beauty. Available in sizes 5X-XS and multiple colors. Link in bio
