I officially made my first pair of jeans! But you've seen this pattern before... With the shorts I've made this summer! I just chopped the legs wayyyy shorter, mainly to test out the fit. I ended up really liking it though so I just kept making more! Now I'll have a bunch of cute new pants for the fall and winter season too. I love finding patterns that I enjoy wearing and making, it makes updating my wardrobe so much more fun and of course gives my style a more unique touch. If you needed another sign to learn how to sew... This is it!

Recently I was asked to do a repair on a tube top for a client. The elastic had been worn out so I just replaced it with some new stuff. Since it doesn't have any straps, making sure the elastic works is kind of important. You can see how stretched out it was compared to the newly repaired top. Now it can be worn and loved for many more years to come! Do you have anything that needs to be repaired? Let me fix it for you!

The finished corset! I'm so happy with how this turned out 😊 I made it straight from the pattern with no adjustments and it fit quite well. This is also a view from the Simplicity 3677 Pirate costume pattern. I made it with some outdoor canvas material for the main fabric, the interfacing is a cotton muslin and the lining is a polyester silky fabric that I thrifted at a garage sale. I wasn't sure how well constructed this was going to be, considering it's from a costume pattern but it actually is! I was impressed. The only thing I would change next time is to extend the boning all the way to the top in the center front. With the original design it only reaches to the second grommet which causes some puckering at the very top when the corset is tightened. I think if there were boning up there it would keep the puckering from happening. Overall this was a great pattern that was fairly easy to make and true to size and I will absolutely be making it again! Tune in on Thursday to see the whole outfit 😁

Say hello to the base of my Renaissance Faire costume! Both the skirt and the top are made out of a linen/rayon(I think) blend. The top is a piece from Simplicity 3677.. A pirate costume pattern. And the skirt is from New Look 6400. It was my first time making something from that pattern and I have to say it turned out wonderfully! Quick to sew patterns with few pieces always are a go-to for me. The sizing was definitely on the larger side.. I had to take in about 4 inches! ☠️ But! Alls well that ends well. I'm excited to pair this with the corset I made.

Outfit of the day! My first pair of shorts and a t-shirt from a local family owned shop. I know it's a little wild when paired with the checkered Vanns.. Oh well 😂

After! Once everything is said and done I'm usually walking away with a finished project in hand. In this case, it's a leather studded collar and leash. Working with this faux leather material was much easier than I thought it would be, and I'm excited to create more (faux) leather pieces for my Renaissance Faire costume!

During! Even though I like to keep things clean, I'm a firm believer that creativity can't be fully unlocked without creating a little bit of a mess. As long as you're willing to clean up afterwards, I say... Why not!

Before.
This is what my sewing space looks like before I start a project. I always like to begin with a fresh slate so I don’t feel so crowded by my own work. Sometimes it’s good to spread out.

POV: I bring you with me to alter a pair of shorts, step by step! Do you like? What’s the one thing you wish you could change on your ready to wear shorts? I wish I could make all the pockets bigger!

Here’s the second tank top pattern that I tried! I like this one too, however I need to make a couple of adjustments. I’m going to size it down for sure, but I’m also going to use a more stable knit, and I’ll probably shorten the arm and neck bands. I found that they were a little long and ended up being kind of gapey, especially in the neck. I have hope yet for this one though. It’s a staple style and I’d like to make plenty more 💕

Recently I bought a couple of crop tank top patterns and I’ve been pattern testing each one. This one is super comfortable! The fabric is a lightweight rayon knit from Joann and the pattern is from Effortless Patterns on Etsy.
