🌿 A little herbal wisdom from The Glory Shoppe…

Recently, a friend of mine added a few supplements and herbal tinctures to her daily routine. She was taking thyroid medication and didn’t realize that some of the things she had added could potentially interfere with her medication.

Then she had thyroid labs come back WAY out of her normal range. 😳

After some investigating, she discovered that something she was taking may have been interfering with how her thyroid medication was working.

And it reminded me of something I think we sometimes forget:

Plants are powerful. 🌿

I believe God gave us an incredible world filled with plants that have been traditionally used for generations to nourish, soothe, comfort, and support our bodies. I absolutely LOVE learning about them and discovering all the ways they can be used.

But sometimes we hear the word “natural” and assume that means we never have to think twice about it.

Not quite. 😉🌿

Especially when herbs are being taken internally, they can sometimes interact with prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, supplements, or even other herbs.

I think many of us grew up with the idea that medications are the “powerful” things that affect the body, while plants are mostly food, seasoning, or maybe a nice cup of tea. 🌿😉

But plants contain active compounds too—and some of them can have very real effects on the body.

We shouldn't underestimate plants.
They're a whole lot more than vegetables and seasoning. 😂🌿
And honestly, that's not a reason to be afraid of herbs.
It's a reason to respect them.

Plants contain powerful compounds—that's part of what makes herbalism so fascinating!

So if you're adding an herbal tea, tincture, capsule, supplement, or other ingestible herb to your routine—especially if you take medication—do a quick interaction check first. Ask your pharmacist or healthcare provider if you're unsure.

🌿 BTS: From the worktable to the shelves! 🌿

Remember those freshly poured First Aid Rescue Balms from the other day? They’ve cooled, set, been labeled, and now they’re officially ready to head to the shelves! 🙌✨

There’s something so satisfying about this part of the process — seeing a batch go from a crock pot full of herbs (😂🌿), to infused botanical oil, to freshly poured tins… and finally to these little finished beauties.

First Aid Rescue is my plant-based botanical salve made to be one of those handy little tins you reach for when skin needs a little extra TLC. 🌱

Every batch is made by hand in small quantities here at The Glory Shoppe — herbs infused, salve poured, tins labeled, one step at a time. ❤️

And this batch is officially ready for the shelves! 🎉🌿

A new batch of our First Aid Rescue Balm is cooling and getting ready for labels! ❤️

And can we just appreciate that gorgeous green?! 😍 That color comes straight from the herbs infused into the oil—no artificial colors needed. Just plants doing their thing. 🌿✨

There’s something I love about this stage of the process… before the lids go on and the labels make everything look all official. 😂 Just freshly poured tins of herbal goodness, made by hand in small batches.

I’m so excited to be joining other local makers for an afternoon in the Daviess County Public Library’s Reading Garden on September 26 from 11am–3pm!
